BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (ブレイブルー Bureiburū?) (pronounced blaze-blue), is a two-dimensional fighting arcade game by Arc System Works, the staff behind the Guilty Gear series. It was released on December 22, 2006 in Japan and March 31, 2007 in the United States. It was released on PlayStation 2 on December 20, 2007 with a Windows version following in August 2010. It is a spiritual successor to Guilty Gear. A playable demo was presented at AOU 2006. The game is currently released for the Taito Type X2 arcade system board, with a 16:9 ratio and 768p resolution. - New music, animations, backgrounds, and a console-exclusive story mode.
- Theme songs done by KOTOKO (Ao-Iconoclast) for the OP and Hironobu Kageyama (Omae no Tettsui ni Kugi wo Ute) for Bang's Install Theme.
- The ability to switch between Japanese and English voices.
- Online multiplayer supporting up to six, and which will allow players to watch other online battles as spectators.
- Special "Unlimited" versions of characters, which give them boss-like properties similar to the Gold and Black forms in Guilty Gear. The Unlimited forms of Ragna, Rachel, Hakumen, and v-13 can be fought in the single player mode.
