Drill Dozer has a linear story where clearing an area unlocks the next area. There are optional secret areas that you can unlock by purchasing maps in the shop. They are generally harder than normal areas and require precise timing and technique. The Red Dozers' Training Course is a training area where you can practice drilling. Help topics can be viewed by opening the Equipment screen with 
and then pressing 
.
Each area can be replayed to find any missing treasures or obtain more chips. Cutscenes can be skipped by pressing 
. You can exit in the middle of an area from the menu and retain anything collected.
If the Drill Dozer loses all energy, then it is game over. You can pay 50 chips to continue or give up.
