More generic[edit]

This template looks like it might be useful on any of the civilization games, not just revolution (with some minor upgrades). What do others think? -- Prod (Talk) 08:47, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

The template looks good and uniformity across the games is always nice. I would suggest adding a width parameter directly into the template instead of relying on external divs and maybe making the colors more BlueCloud-ey. - najzere 09:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Heh yay an excuse to change the template name. I'm a bit removed from the other Civilization games so not too sure on the nuances and differences in the other civilization games. Probably need some interest in a civ-enthusiast to come up with appropriate changes, but I guess we could always have a variable length grey box; I'm pretty sure the upper blue boxes (type, tier, prerequisites) are consistent across all civ games. -- Pso 06:56, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
I've only played Civ 4 (sparsely) but played a lot of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. We can make some of the rows in the bottom optional so that any differences between the games are implemented through usage rather than hard-coded. Unfortunately SMAC might not fit this template because I don't remember there being any explicit tiers like in the Civ games. -- Prod (Talk) 07:04, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Heh nice, I've enjoyed my fair time of SMAC too :D but it's pretty hard to beat SMAC's built-in help without copious amounts of copy-paste. I've got a feeling there might have been tiers in that too? Like each tech had a name like Superconductor or The Will to Power and a classification like Discover 11 or Build 7, but it's been a while. But yeah optional lines and/or custom-name fields are good ideas :D
