Mega Man Powered Up/Alternate playthrough

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

Once you've completed the game, you can unlock additional characters. You can replay the game as any of these characters.

Mega Man[edit]

  • Weapon: Mega Buster

The main hero of the game, and the only one available from the start. He has the same capabilities as in the original NES game, starting out with only his Mega Buster, which fires tiny yellow pellets. You can only have three pellets on-screen at a time. He is the only character who gains a new weapon by defeating a Robot Master.

Mega Man S[edit]

This is Mega Man with the Slide ability first introduced in Mega Man 3. Hold Down dpad and press the Jump button to slide through small passages or under enemy fire.

Mega Man C[edit]

This is Mega Man with both the Slide and the ability to charge his Mega Buster, first introduced in Mega Man 4. Hold the Fire button to charge up, then release it to fire a charged shot. Charged shots are much more powerful than Mega Man's normal shots, and can break through enemy defenses.

Mega[edit]

  • Weapon: Mega Kick

This is Mega Man with no armor, no Slide, and no weapons, not even the Mega Buster. He can only attack by kicking his enemies.

Roll[edit]

Roll's only weapon is a broom, which she swings like a club. She can perform a double-swing combo if you press the fire button twice while on the ground. You can download a variety of alternate costumes for her; some of these costumes give her a different weapon, but they all still work the same way. None of her costumes change her gameplay in any way.

Protoman[edit]

Protoman has a shield which can be used to block enemy bullets. He also runs faster and jumps higher than any other character, but he also takes more damage than anybody else.

Robot Masters[edit]

Cut Man
  • Weapon: Rolling Cutter
  • Weakness: Super Arm

As a playable character Cut Man can throw two Rolling Cutters at a time instead of one and he also can wall-jump to reach higher areas (except ice walls which will cause him to slip).

Guts Man
  • Weapon: Super Arm
  • Weakness: Hyper Bomb (Old Style), Time Slow (New Style)

As a playable character Guts Man can create blocks from the ground and throw them using his Super Arm. However, only 5 blocks can be placed on one screen and he can't make them while in midair or when standing on Conveyor Belts or Drop Lifts. Guts Man can also use his blocks to trap enemies and even bosses.

Ice Man
  • Weapon: Ice Slasher
  • Weakness: Thunder Beam (Old Style), Hyper Bomb (New Style)

As a playable character Ice Man is able to freeze his enemies and use them as platforms to reach higher areas.

Bomb Man
  • Weapon: Hyper Bomb
  • Weakness: Fire Storm (Old Style), Rolling Cutter (New Style)

As a playable character Bomb Man can throw his bombs in various directions. Also he can throw 2 Hyper Bombs at a time (while Mega Man is only limited to one).

Fire Man
  • Weapon: Fire Storm
  • Weakness: Ice Slasher

As a playable character Fire Man can shoot his Fire Storm and melt ice blocks when he is standing on them. However, when Fire Man touches water, he can't shoot Fire Storm anymore because fire doesn't works in water, but he still can summon the protecting orb around him to deal damage.

Elec Man
  • Weapon: Thunder Beam
  • Weakness: Rolling Cutter (Old Style), Oil Slider (New Style)

As a playable character Elec Man can shoot his Thunder Beam in 3 directions (up, down and forward) and also charge up Elec Blocks to make them move.

Time Man
  • Weapon: Time Slow
  • Weakness: Thunder Beam

As a playable character Time Man attacks by firing two clock hands: one upward and one downward. Holding the attack button will make him charge his attack and when releasing it, Time Man will use his Time Slow, slowing down time longer than Mega Man.

Oil Man
  • Weapon: Oil Slider
  • Weakness: Fire Storm

Oil Man is probably the worst playable character in Mega Man Powered Up. His weapon is powerful only when he crashes into the enemies with Oil Slider, but he can also take damage if the enemy remains. Oil Man can attack with the globs, but he can't fire more than one and this is very hard during boss fights. Oil Man's only advantage is that he can double jump when jumping off his Oil Slider and he can also ride the slider on the water surfaces.

Mega Man?[edit]

When playing as any robot master, they will be replaced in their own level and in the 3rd Castle Wily stage by Mega Man?.

Stun weapons: None

Mega Man?'s attacks are very easy to avoid. All he does is runs back and forth while firing 3 buster shots (1 on Easy) and jumping sometimes. He can also slide which you can easily avoid by jumping over him when he does that. After his HP drops below half (anytime on Hard) he'll start using charge shots which are also easy to avoid. On Normal Mega Man? will stand still when charging his buster but on Hard he keeps moving when charging it.

Guts Man: Fighting Mega Man? as him can be hard. Try to place a block in the middle of the arena and attack him at the right time. His charge shots can't destroy your blocks.

Oil Man: To deal normal damage to Mega Man?, you need to crash into him with your Oil Slider. But that's not without risk, because you can also get hit if you're not careful. Otherwise oil blob deals minimal damage. With blobs you'll take him out in 28 hits and with oil sled - in 14 hits.
