Service room[edit]
The following keys can be used in the service room, the room that is not part of the game's story, but is used to manage save slots and to jump between levels:

← / → / ↑ / ↓ | Movement (see the "Movement" section below for more) |
Space | Select the save slot currently being looked at (if there are multiple empty slots, only the leftmost is selectable) |
Esc | Return to the game (if one is in progress and the player is not on a platform) or leave a platform (if the player is on a platform) |
Space / Backspace | Scroll forward or backward through the unlocked levels (only at the entrance to the net) |
Enter | Enter the selected level (only at the entrance to the net) |
J / N | Confirm or cancel an exit to DOS |
General[edit]
The following controls likewise correspond to extradiegetic actions like picking a difficulty level, pausing, saving, etc.:

1 / 2 / 3 | Select difficulty level (only right after starting a new game from the service room) |
P | Pause or unpause the game |
F2 | Save the game (when prompted, press J to confirm or N to cancel) |
F3 | Load a saved game (when prompted, press J to confirm or N to cancel) |
Esc | Leave the level and return to the service room |
F10 | Exit directly to DOS (when prompted, press J to confirm or N to cancel) |
Settings[edit]
These keys modify the game's software settings:

F5 / F11 | Cycle through motion blur settings (none, low, or high) (F11 is undocumented) |
F12 | Cycle through sound settings (sound effects and music, sound effects only, or no sound) |
