Image categorisation

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Road Runner (1986) images]]. i'm adding a lot more information, it will be based on the 'crystal castles' page layout..

i'd like to add a wikipedia link, but it doesn't point to the right page.. also, i don't need appendices, but a basic control and home version comparison link added..

Image naming

Hi Negative1. Thanks for contributing to the RR guide, but unfortunately, all of your image files have to be renamed. It not just SW policy, but for the benefit of other users that you prefix image filenames with the name of game that the image comes from. If you could begin that process, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise, you've created a lot of work for a sysop to take care of, and they are already quite busy. Either "Move" each image to the corrected file name, or reupload them with proper file names, and then tag the original file with {{delete}} so that a sysop knows it can be deleted. how do i rename the file? i don't see that option when i go to edit the image?

yeah, i could re-upload them.. but a rename would be faster..

also, how do i get removed from the stage 0 completion? i can't seem to edit that either..

To rename, just "Move" the file to the correct name. It's up there at the top next to edit. The completion stage is the "num" field in the Header Nav of the front guide page. Please read the StrategyWiki Guide a little more closely. A lot of people put a great amount of time into it to make sure that all of these questions would be answered. Thanks. Actually, only admin can move files. I guess I should put something in the guide about that :S. I'll do the renaming, but in the future you'd just want to mark them {{rename|new name}} if you need a file moved. — najzere^T 17:00, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Easier editing

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. New images

Why are you uploading new images? Now we have a bunch of orphaned images that will need to be deleted. Next time, just upload a new version over the existing file. Also, are the bonus images you uploaded to Ms. Pac-Man/Getting Started supposed to have transparent backgrounds? Because the filetype you used (JPEG) doesn't support transparency. — najzere^T 21:43, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

ok, i'll do that.. i didn't know if the someone wanted to keep the old versions around...they looked kind of plain compared to the nice 3d ones.. i've been trying to get that script to work in Gimp 2.2,but it doesn't seem to find it, so i can't get it working properly..hmmm i'll have to work on that..

no transparency...just the file name called trans3d.. i'll make it more consistent..

The older image is kept in the version history, as can be seen on File:Centipede Safety.png, which you uploaded a new version of. I can't upload .scm extensions any more, so maybe I'll upload the GIMP script as a text file later on tonight. — najzere^T 22:07, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

i have the script, its just that GIMP can't find it.. i've put it in the programs directory, and the local directory.. and even when i refresh the script-fu it just doesn't show up. even after i've closed down the program... i haven't used GIMP before, so its kind of confusing.. and i can't enter the commands into the console either..

Assuming you're using Windows, it's usually in \share\gimp\2.0\scripts. Also, it's accessed by going into "Image" on the menu bar, then into "Transform". Hope that helps. — najzere^T 22:42, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

getting closer...(some images don't work.. i think only pngs?).. but i still get an error... script-fu-2Dimage-3Dimage 64 210 2 15 2 4 '(0 0 0) 50) ERROR:unbound variable (errobj gimp-image-scale-full)..

maybe they have to be a certain size also?
