To increase more rapidly your Experience in Timber or Mining, you have cut/mine at your highest level Timber Study (wood)/Ore Study (mine) that you have unlock. Even if you can't compound them at that level, you will be able to compound them at an inferior level.
Exemple: Go to Seville to cut wood if you have Timber Study level 4 even if you can only compound Timber lvl 3.
