This chapter starts on the SOLDIER Floor of the Shinra Tower.
SOLDIER Floor[edit]
When you'll take control of Zack again, you'll receive new missions and mails, don't forget to pick an item in the Supply Pod next to the Briefing Room, it's a Star Pendant. In the Briefing Room, there are two SOLDIERs arguing, talk to the one in blue to unlock the Side Quest The Hopeless SOLDIER (a new set of missions). This set of missions will give you an important item for later.
Then, visit the Training Room and talk to Hôjô, unlocking the Side Quest First-Rate SOLDIER.
Then, go to the elevator, there are things to do before talking to Director Lazard. Don't forget to grab a free drink that gives you a free Raise status
Sector 8[edit]
Sector 8 - fountain[edit]
Go talk to the two Genesis and Angeal fans south of the fountain to receive two mails. Then, in an alley to the east, there is a man giving you access to a new mission.
Loveless Street[edit]
Talk to the woman walking and choose either answer to get a new mission. Then, talk to the Genesis fan in the alley to get a new mail.
When you're finished with what you were doing, go back to the Shinra Tower.
Shinra Tower[edit]
Use the elevator and reach the Director's Office Floor. You'll get a cutscene, and then, several things:

- Being able to equip up to 6 materia
- After every fight, you're now evaluated, depending on the result, you can restore HP/MP/AP
- You now have access to Materia Fusion
Go back to the Director's Office for another cutscene.
Director's Office[edit]
The Shinra Tower is attacked, and you will need to save everyone, so make a separate save at the Save Point in front of you beforehand. Now, take the elevator.
Elevator[edit]
When the game asks you if you want to get out of the elevator because it stopped, do it. After the fight, there are still two groups of enemies left on this floor, one to the south west, the other in the Training Room. The man you saved in the Training Room will ask you to not say anything about him being here, do so and you'll get 5,000 Gils. Then, go back to the Elevator.
Sector 8[edit]
After some fights and cutscenes, go to Loveless Street.
Loveless Street[edit]
There are 2 groups of people to save here, one to the left when you enter, one to the right. When you're done with then, go straight from where you entered.

After the fight, you will get access to a new shop : Research_Dept. QMC.
Mako Reactor 5[edit]
After the cutscene, go to your left towards a ladder (but don't go down yet) to receive a new mail and a new set of missions. This set of missions will unlock several new summons, so you should do it as soon as possible. Then, go to Sephiroth, talk to him and find the bridge to lower, it will be easier for you to cross, then, go down the ladder next to the bridge. Sephiroth is in front of a door, it's locked, he tells you to go down so you can activate the generator. Go back to the ladder, and then go down the first ladder you saw earlier. In front of you, you can activate a valve that will lower a second ladder. Then, follow the rail to another ladder going down. You will then face the generator. On each side of it, there a two chests. Activate the generator. Then go back to where Sephiroth is. Talk to Sephiroth, he will point out where are the files you need to examine. When you're finished, talk to Sephiroth again for a cutscene.
Pursuit[edit]
While pursuing Hollander, there will be a chest in front of you, containing a Soma. There will be a blockade on your way, take a right to find a chest at the end. When you will be on the other side of the blockade, there will be another chest next to it. On your way, you will be stopped by 2 Sahagins, next to them is a chest containing the materia Jump. After Zack tells Hollander that he has nowhere to run, take the stairs on the left to find a chest. Save at the Save Point. There will be a tough fight against 3 Machines (equip a Lightning materia beforehand). After a cutscene, the chapter will end.
