Offense[edit]

At Bat[edit]

  • A button: Press the A button to swing the bat.
  • Neutral dpad: Use the direction pad to aim your swing as you attempt to hit the ball. Including the neutral position, the bat can be swung over nine different regions. If, for example, you feel that the ball will be thrown low and outside to a batter standing on the right side of the plate, press and hold down and to the left on the direction pad to hit the ball properly.
  • Start button: Used to call a time out.

Running Bases[edit]

  • B button+Neutral dpad: Runners will automatically move to the next base once a ball touches the ground. Press the B button to request that the runner continue running, or to request that a runner run before the ball has landed. You must first hold the direction pad in the direction of the base that a player currently occupies. For example, if you have a runner at first base, and would like him to run to second, first hold Right dpad, then press B button.
  • A button+Neutral dpad: As mentioned above, runner automatically move to the next base, unless it's a fly ball, in which case they wait to see if it's safe to run. You might decide that you don't want to wait and send a player ahead. But if it turns out that the ball was caught, you'll need to send him back to the base before he is tagged out. If you were headed to second bases when the ball was caught, send the runner back to first by holding Right dpad, and then pressing A button.

Defense[edit]

Pitching[edit]

  • A button: Press the A button to throw the ball.
  • Neutral dpad: Use the direction pad to determine the strength of your pitch, and to aim your throw to the batter.
    • During the wind up, press Up dpad to throw the ball fast, press Down dpad to throw the ball slow, or do not press any direction to throw it at a medium speed.
    • Once the ball is thrown, press the direction pad to guide the ball through the air. The longer you hold a direction, the farther it will move in that direction. If, for example, you want to throw the ball high and inside to a batter standing on the right side of the plate, press and hold up and to the right on the direction pad to throw the ball in that corner. Don't hold it for too long or the pitch will not travel over the plate and umpire will call it a ball.
  • B button: Press the B button to switch to fielding if you feel that a runner is attempting to steal a base.
  • Start button: Used to call a time out.

In the field[edit]

  • Neutral dpad: You can only direct one fielder at a time, and you will always control the fielder closest to the ball. Use the direction pad to control the motion of that fielder across the field.
  • A button+Neutral dpad or B button+Neutral dpad: Press either A or B in conjunction with the direction pad to throw the ball to the fielder at any particular base. If you do not press any direction, your throw will go to 1st base.
