Controls[edit]

  •  Q ,  A ,  O , and  P : In the ZX version, use these keys to drive Jupiter around Pontypandy (and Sam up the front of N. W. Price's General Store when he gets to that emergency); you must also use  Space  to make Sam jump while he is climbing the front of N. W. Price's General Store. However, for the CPC and C64 versions, you will have to use a joystick with a button for jumping instead - as they do not support keyboard controls.

Fireman Sam[edit]

FS Fireman Sam.png

The protagonist for this game; you must direct him around Pontypandy in Jupiter the fire engine to get to each emergency as it occurs (indicated by the fire alarm at the bottom of the screen ringing, and a message describing the emergency appearing on the teleprinter to its left). There is also a timer to its right (below the picture of Sam), which indicates how long he has left to remedy the current emergency and return to the Fire Station (if he cannot do it quickly enough, Station Officer Basil Steele shall give him a warning and one of the three envelopes to the left of his picture shall light up) - and if he gets three warnings, the game will be over. The emergencies include dousing fires at the Old Lane, the Old Barn (a reference to that 1987 episode "Barn Fire"), Firefighter Penny Morris's house (even though she had lived in Newtown, Powys), and Bus Driver/Auxiliary Fireman Trevor Evans's house; he must also climb the front of N. W. Price's General Store to retrieve the kite of his niece and nephew, Sarah and James, when that emergency occurs (a reference to that 1987 episode, "Kite"), and enlist the help of his fellow firefighters to bend the railings which Norman W. Price gets his head stuck in when that emergency occurs (a reference to the 1987 episode "Norman's Tricky Day"). He will also have to find Norman W. Price's skateboard, Station Officer Steele's key and Trevor Evans's hammer when the messages that say that they are lost appear on the teleprinter - however, their places are randomly-generated so you may have to spend a lot of time looking for them. Sam also referred to himself by his full name of "Samuel Peyton" in the show, whenever he demonstrated one of his inventions to his fellow firefighters.
