Spells you start with[edit]

Flipendo

This is one of the three spells you start with in the game. With this spell, you can activate switches, push blocks and defeat certain enemies.

Alohomora

This is another of the three spells you start the game with. This spell can open locked doors and chests. Completely worthless against closed vines.

Lumos

This is the last of the three spells you start the game with. This spell aims at a gargoyle and illuminates (or opens) walls and make certain ledges and platforms appear. Better hurry because they last only a small amount of time when the gargoyle is activated.

Spells unlocked when their challenge is complete[edit]

Rictusempra

Named after the first spell challenge in the game, Rictusempra allows you to destroy stronger enemies that Flipendo cannot. However, on certain enemies, Flipendo is used to push the knocked-out enemy into its plate.

Skurge

This spell is from the second spell challenge. Its main goal is to destroy ectoplasm out of Harry's way. See the enemies section for more information.

Diffindo

Though Flipendo is useless at destroying vines, Diffindo does just that. It can also break rope, destroy spider webs and destroy certain enemies.

Spongify

Within the final spell challenge is Spongify. It can turn certain carpets to a substance that will shoot the player in mid-air. But some carpets shoot the player in different directions, so it's more than just "shot into the air".

Dueling spells[edit]

Rictusempra

This spell can also hurt other players. This spell can be charged up for extra damage.

Mimblewimble

This spell knocks out another player enough to prevent any wand waving for a short period of time. It too can be charged up.

Expeliamurs (or that reversal charm)

It cannot be charged up, it cannot be used, it reflects spells back at your opponent.
