In Heli Attack 2 it is impossible to kill yourself without using the suicide (K) key. Thus, explosives are harmless to the player. However, with some weapons you can 'push' yourself up by shooting at a helicopter whilst above it in a hyperjump. This is particularly relevant concerning the A Bomb. The weapons available in this game are as follows:

  • Submachine gun: This is your weakest and base weapon. Naturally, it has unlimited ammo and is not very powerful, 30 shots to kill a heli. This is made up for its rapid re-fire rate. This weapon IS a sub-machine gun, and is replaced in Heli Attack 3 by the pistol.
  • AkimboMac10s: Fires two bullets that are slightly less powerful than the SMG (if you compare just one of the two from the Mac10's shot). Seventeen shots for a kill if you hit the heli with both bullets. Fifty in a cartridge. By this calculation a MAC-10 bullet takes 34 shots to kill a helicopter while an SMG takes 30.
  • Shotgun: Releases five shots which spread out in a cone. Most efficient at close range. Four shots to a kill and fourteen to a cartridge.
  • Shotgun Rockets: An odd cross between a rocket launcher and a shotgun. Fires three projectiles that spread in a similar cone to that of a shotgun but look like rockets (however they move slightly faster). Three shots to a kill and eight per cartridge.
  • Grenade Launcher: Tosses grenades. Shot trajectories are parabolic, hence, from ground level these cannot reach the helis. Takes four shots to kill a heli. Twelve to a cartridge.
  • RPG: Shoots rocket-propelled grenades. Takes four shots to kill a heli. Grenades appear to hover before accelerating to an incredible speed. Ten to a cartridge.
  • Rocket Launcher: Shoots a slow moving projectile. The rocket may miss the heli if it zooms off screen. Three shots to kill a heli and eight to a cartridge.
  • Seeker Launcher: Shoots a rocket similar to that from the rocket launcher; however, it will follow the helis. Three shots to kill a heli, six to a cartridge. Very useful when you start to feel tired because no matter where you aim it's almost a guaranteed hit.
  • Firemines: When the fire button is clicked you lay down a mine where you stand. It bursts out a pillar of fire for approximately three seconds. The fire can pass through cover. Two to kill a heli. Three to a cartridge.
  • Flamethrower: A nifty weapon that appears in all 3 games. More damage if close up, and can kill a heli in one hyper jump if done right, but if done wrong takes more than half the cartridge for a single kill. One-hundred fifty shots to a cartridge. Reload time virtually non-existent to simulate a stream of fire.
  • Railgun: This futuristic looking weapon shoots a large green laser which moves instantaneously across the screen then fades away. The round can pass through cover. Two shots to a kill and three to a cartridge.
  • A-Bomb: Considered one of the best weapons in the game. One shot will kill a heli and it reloads at a fair speed;however, the bomb travels incredibly slow. Most players fix this by hyper jumping and shooting the rocket right on the heli for an instant kill. Two shots to a cartridge.
  • Grapple Cannon: This is the only other weapon that will one hit a heli. It is an improvement on the A-Bomb by having a speedy projectile but on the down side it takes the longest to reload of any weapon.

Crates[edit]

'Crates' and their contents are identified by their colour-coded type.

  • Yellow: Rocket type
  • Purple: Grenade Type
  • Red: Fire type
  • Green: shotgun type (including shotgun rockets)
  • Blue: SMG type (this class only includes the MAC 10s)
  • Grey: Special (Grapple cannon, Railgun and a-bomb)
  • White with yellow arrow: Powerup
  • White with red cross: health pack. These appear every 15, 30, 60, 120 helis etc.

Also, some crates flick rapidly between sorts resulting in a random weapon.
