Opening[edit]

Cutscene: Strange New World (Sandover)
After discovering both the Rift Rider and Precursor Ring at the end of The Precursor Legacy, Jak and Daxter watch as Samos and Keira test them out back at their home in Sandover Village. When the ring is activated, a large monster appears from within the ring, announcing freedom. The four board the Rift Rider and drive into the ring, knocking the monster back into the portal. The gang continues to ride in the void until an energy spark strikes the Rift Rider and destroys it. The four are separated and fall in various directions.
Cutscene: Strange New World (Arrival in Haven City)
When Jak and Daxter land, Daxter swears that he will never touch anymore "stupid Precursor crap" again. Suddenly he and Jak are greeted by a group Kremzon Guards headed by a man named Erol. Daxter flees at the site of these guards. Erol instructs the guards to ignore "the rat" and take Jak instead. Erol states to Jak that they have been expecting him as the Baron specifically wants him. Then one of the guards knocks out Jak with his gun, showing Jak's POV to go black. The last thing he hears is Daxter's vow, "Don't worry Jak! I'll save you before you know it!"
Cutscene: Strange New World (Jak's rescue)
Two years later…
Baron Praxis has been subjecting Jak to torturous Dark Eco experiments for the "Dark Warrior Program" in a laboratory. Once finished, the computer states that Jak's vitals are "nominal and unchanged". The Baron is displeased with the findings, stating that he was informed that Jak would be different, and that the amount of Dark Eco used should have killed him. Erol then asks what to do next as the Metal Head armies are pressing and the Baron has no new weapon to combat them. The Baron orders to move to the final plan and to get rid of Jak.
As the two depart, Daxter appears from a hover platform and hops onto Jak. Daxter states that he has spent the past two years searching for Jak (covered in the spinoff game Daxter), and begs him to say something. Jak then breaks his long standing verbal silence with, "I'm gonna kill Praxis!" Daxter tries to free Jak, but suddenly Jak transforms into a dark version of himself, or a "Dark Jak", and breaks free. Dark Jak approaches Daxter and regresses back to normal. The two leave the laboratory and Daxter states that he has brought Jak some new clothes, which Jak puts on as they begin their escape from the fortress.
