Menus[edit]

After choosing the save file, you're brought to the game's main menu. This menu has four options:

  • Begin/Continue: This will take you to the last place you saved or the beginning of the game if it's a new file.
  • Gallery: View all cards, cut-ins, and animations you've seen in the game.
  • Options: Change the game's simple settings, such as turning voices or music on and off.
  • Multiplayer: Challenge another owner of Fate of Heat to a battle with characters from your file. Press X button to take characters into or out of the party.

In-game, the pause menu has another set of four options:

  • Status: See the stats of characters in your party, including HP lost and CP spent.
  • Cards: Modify the decks of characters in your party. Press R button to enter the Bag, where all unused cards are stored and can be switched into a party member's deck.
  • Items: Use items. Note that most items can only be used in battle. Characters cannot be healed outside of battle but CP can be restored at any time.
  • Save: Save your game. You are also asked if you want to quit after saving, in which case you can choose another file or return to the main menu.

Battle[edit]

The layout of a battle, utilizing both screens.

Battles occur either as part of the story or at random when walking around the field. They are the only means of obtaining experience and gold, but besides building decks, they are fairly straight-forward. The top screen shows the health and CP of the party, along with the attacks of your party and the enemy's. The bottom screen shows the options and what cards are being used when it comes time to attack. Drag one of the cards with the stylus onto the empty rectangle and you will be given an option of who to attack (unless the card hits everyone). Make the selection with A button and the next party member can input their actions. The number in the bottom corner of the card shows how much CP will be spent by using it and the color in the top corner allows you to set up a potential team attack.

Alternative commands can be seen next to the empty card space: escape, guard, and use an item, which should be selected if the situation calls for it. Additionally, the battle may be complicated with the use of cards that change the form of the character, restoring their HP and CP along with altering their deck to go along with the change: Tsuna can enter Dying Will or Hyper Dying Will mode; I-Pin, Lambo, and Lambo from 10 Years Later can use the 10-Year Bazooka to become older versions of themselves; Chrome can summon Mukuro to possess her, allowing her to use his deck.

Following the battle, party members earn their experience (where they may level up) and you earn your gold. Enemies may also drop items occasionally, though unless the enemy's rare or particularly powerful, the drop will be something common that can be bought from Dino/Iemitsu at Tsuna's house for a cheap price.
