Units and structures in Tempest Rising may apply or be applied with a status effect, which affects their stats and behavior on the battlefield. There are positive and negative status effects, which benefit and hinder a unit respectively. Status effects are typically temporary.

Units may gain a status effect through performing abilities, or gaining it from another unit's attacks or passive abilities.

Some status effects may stack up several times to amplify their effects or cause a new status effect.
