Which characters are in the game?[edit]

There are a lot of characters present and are all listed in the Characters section. Some names are oddly translated.

_____ summoned (dice), which isn't listed in his crest pool. How come?[edit]

Every character has around 20 dice in their dice pool. The computer may throw in dice that person has never used before so be weary.

How do I duel _____?[edit]

The participants of every tournament are randomly chosen so you will have to enter tournaments until the specific person you are looking for appears. Be sure to take note of a few variables about tournaments.

  • Each tournament has 16 randomly selected characters
  • The player will only get to fight 4 of the 16 participants
  • Each character randomly selects from a dice pool of 30.

Are there any cheats?[edit]

Not without a gameshark.

Can you turn off the battle animations?[edit]

Animations can be turned off by doing 3 simple steps.

  • When you are on the game board press Start button
  • Choose the second option
  • Choose off

How do I unlock all characters in Free Duel mode?[edit]

To unlock a character simply defeat them in a tournament.

How do you unlock all the dice?[edit]

Dice can be gained in 2 ways. Getting all of the dice takes a lot of time and luck.

  • Every time you beat a character you will win 1 of the dice that appears in their dice pool.
  • At Soloman's shop Dice are available for purchase.

How do I get (specific dice)[edit]

Every time you beat a character, you randomly receive one of their dice. If you want a specific die constantly fight someone who has it in Free Duel mode until you receive the die as a prize. Since it is random it can take a while. Also, Solomon will eventually sell every die other than Black Magician Girl.

Are there any differences between the Japanese and American versions?[edit]

The gameplay is unchanged but the names of characters, monsters, and dialog are different. References to magic have been removed and the image for the Magic Crest was changed to a misshaped triangle.

Why do the characters have different names?[edit]

The English translation is based off ot the 4Kids translation of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series. The names of characters should reflect this. The names of characters that were never in the anime or appear later in the series have random names and personalities.

Is the translation bad?[edit]

Yes, older Yu-Gi-Oh! games have relatively bad translations. This mostly effects dialog and has little effect on gameplay. The names of characters and monsters that have appeared in the translated anime are relatively accurate.
