New Page
How do I create a new page? I have noticed that the guide is missing several pages, including Route 205 (Eterna City Side). Secondly, I haven't seen any maps. Am I allowed to copy maps from a game guide? I tried reading the license page, but it didn't make sense. Chrestomanci21 09:00, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
: An easy way to create a new page is to make a link to the page you want to create in some useful place (such as in the right place in the Table of Contents), then click the link. Next, click the "Guide page" button above the editing area to preload the necessary parts of the page, write the page content, and save it. :-) Generally, you aren't allowed to copy maps from game guides, unless the game guide is under the GFDL license (i.e. the same license as us). You'll have to make your own, or use in-game screenshots. --DrBob (talk) 09:16, 21 October 2007 (CDT)

:::Not sure if this is true, but to me, Honey Trees seem to have different Pokemon (I think Windworks was Burmy and the meadow place was the monkey (Aipom?)), so if it is, try to list specific honey trees. Again, I'm not sure if it works that way, or if it just happened to be that way for me. Also, I read somewhere that you will see every Pokemon if you battle every trainer, so for rarer Pokemon we can list their trainers. EElensar 16:55, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

:It depends. Since all info on Psypoke is copyrighted, you may only use info that you would be able to find in-game (like names of Pokémon and what each trainer uses, stuff like that), because that stuff cannot be copyrighted by individual people (as it is from the game, it is owned by Game Freaks and Nintendo, however, the WAY it is presented CAN be copyrighted). Therefore, I really wouldn't use it as a base source, try searching for some other free alternative first. -- 20:44, 18 June 2007 (CDT)

:::Yes, since that is all stuff from the game and cannot be copyrighted by other sources (no matter what they say). You don't even need to cite/link to them on each of the guide pages, since it is in-game info that you are getting (and they have a link on the front page anyway). However, if you are going for that kind of stuff, try using Bulbapedia instead, which StrategyWiki currently has a partnership with (if you were wondering why the first mention of a Pokémon is linked there, now you know). -- 09:46, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

:Yeah, when using Pal Park, everything about the Pokémon is identical in terms of held item, stats, IVs, EVs, and even if it was shiny or not, any nicknames, etc. The only thing changed is where it was caught, like if it was caught on Route 2 in Fire Red, then the place it was caught would read Kanto, not Route 2. == Routes in order? ==
Could we place a general overview that, what else, generalls overviews each section of the game? Like all the routes and towns/cities and others so that, not during the walkthrough, general data can be looked up, that way things like the Pokémon that are availible, items to be found, and stuff like that be added in? More of a referance than a guide, but overall just a world map help part.
And I was thinking we need a uniform size for all Pokémon pictures. That way all the tables and pictures look good, not just like "I found a big picture of a Metang and am posting that, not bother to resive it to make it fit correctly in the table!"
Ideas? Angel14995 15:52, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
And I just thought of this: A set template for all routes, cities, and other places (like caves and strange places... *eerie music plays*)Angel14995 21:20, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
:Angel, please take some time to review the format used throughout Pokémon Red and Blue, which is the same style in which Pokémon Gold and Silver is currently in the process of being revamped.  Those guides are there to serve as an example of how other Pokémon walkthroughs should be established.  Also, please make sure that every page in the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough receives a properly formatted Footer Nav.  Thank you.  Procyon (Talk) 09:44, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
::Ok, I'll do that. But I've looked at those guides before and I have a little problem with the maps. I know I won't be able to do them, so I would like it if someone else did. I also have to say that most of the trainer data I am collecting will be from the "VS. Seeker", so some of the levels and rewards might be slightly wrong if I am to do it that way, but I will go back and check out as many trainers as I can. And I will make sure the Footer Navs are correctly made. they should go to the next part in the walkthrough, am I correct? I had noticed some of the last places like Turnback Cave skipped a page, so i made it go to the next page. And your welcome, I'll help out as much as I can. Angel14995 13:47, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
:::You don't have to collect all the information yourself (your choice), just try to follow the formatting and leave space for others to fill in the gaps.  The Footer Navs should link to both the previous and next pages in the guide (and use customnext or customprev for branching sections).  If you need any more info, we'll be around to help :). -- Prod (Talk) 22:58, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
::::Cool, cool. Ok, i'll finish the nav bars today, and they will allow people to start working on the actual info. And does anybody know where we could find maps that are of high quality, not just simple little black=trainer, green = grass, figure the rest out yourself? Like what they have in the R/B/Y sections...Angel14995 14:02, 29 August 2007 (CDT)
:::::Proc is probably the person to ask as he did the maps, somewhere I think he said that there's a program that extracts it from a ROM. Just go ahead and ask him.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 15:50, 29 August 2007 (CDT)
::::::wow. Looking at the tables and other things, there's a tremendous amount of wiki markup (I think that's what it's called) that goes into those. It must take a lot of time to get those pages finished. --Myth (talk) 13:10, 13 September 2007 (CDT)
Change the name of a section?
I noticed on the section "Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Fight Area" that though the link is correct, the actual name of the page is still "Fight Area", not "Fight Area/Battle Tower". Is there a way to fix this? --Myth (talk) 12:46, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
:Done, just move the page and update the links, i'll leave the page because there would be a red link on the new page, but i'm not sure having titles like that is a good idea.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 13:41, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
::thanks :). Oh and what do you mean, "titles like that"? --Myth (talk) 13:49, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
:::I mean a "/" means a sub-page in wiki-markup so i'm not sure we really mean it to be a subpage of Fight arena.--Rocky <sup>(Talk - Contributions)</sup> 14:56, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
::::Can't it just be Battle Tower or Fight area and Battle tower?  It's best to avoid /'s when creating page names if they aren't subpages.  Also the redirect has to be deleted so please fix any links to the redirect page.  -- Prod (Talk) 00:35, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

pokemon image location
I was going through this guide a while ago trying to make formatting match on multiple pages and adding missing bulbapedia links in the guide and found a formatting detail that differed enough to not be able to tell which is the right one.
In the pokemon encounters tables the image of the pokemon is either to the right or left of their name depending on which page you are on. When the formatting throughout a guide is similar it looks unified, so I was wondering which one is prefered. --Zaiqukaj 08:11, 8 October 2007 (CDT)
: In the Gold/Silver/Crystal guide, I've kept them to the left, like on this page.  But there's no official policy.  Procyon (Talk) 12:38, 8 October 2007 (CDT)
