Enemy encounters in Hyrule are broken up into four major portions. There is the North West of Hyrule where you begin the game. South West Hyrule is largely composed of swamps, a cemetery, and Death Mountain. North East Hyrule is where you arrive when you use the raft. And South East Hyrule is the area below the monster that blocks your path unless you have the flute.
When you wander through any portion of Hyrule that is not designated as a safe road, there is a chance that you will encounter an enemy in the field. You will see one of three things roaming around in the distance. You may see a simple blob-like enemy, which indicates that the encounter will be comprised of relatively weak enemies. You may see a more humanoid monster, which indicates that the encounter will be comprised of relatively strong enemies. Or you may see a Fairy floating around. Naturally, if you encounter one of these Fairies, you can jump up to touch it and have some of your missing life restored.
The following information is provided for each enemy, where available:
- EXP: The amount of experience points you earn for defeating this enemy.
- HP: The amount of hit points the enemy has.
- Power: The base offensive strength this enemy possesses.
- Drop: An "A" indicates that the enemy will either drop a Blue Potion or a 50 Point Bag. A "B" indicates that the enemy will drop a Red Potion or a 200 Point Bag.
