The house is where the player can display items they have collected. As you progress through the game you can expand your living space through the Bank. Houses can be furnished with many different items and opens up possibilites for higher scores with the Happy Room Academy.

One of the first things you have to do when you arrive in town is to arrange the location of a home with Pelly/Phyllis. When you speak with Pelly/Phyllis you will have the option to walk around town to chose the location of your new home. You will have the opportunity to preview the house in this location and confirm before begins.

Expanding your house is into one path. You'll have to a set of order expansion that will create a two-story house with an attic and basement. Each expansion cost a ton of Bells, and you can't get a new expansion before you pay off your home loan to Tom Nook via the Bank.
