<p>The top screen operates in two modes.  You can switch modes by pressing Select.  The main mode displays Soma's status and souls currently equipped.  It also provides information about your most recently encountered enemy.  Upon defeating an enemy for the first time you obtain its name, information about its resistances and weaknesses, and the number of souls of that enemy you currently possess.
