It has been patched over and over again, and each has changed both the game and how the community views it.  For example changes between 1.4 and 1.5 removed the ability to bunny hop; a major advantageous glitch technique that allowed players to move much more quickly.  Most notable, however, is the change from 1.6 to Source.  The changes made in Source were so great that veteran players decided not to switch over and have still yet to do so.  Aside from graphics and elements of the Half-Life 2 physics engine, the mechanics within the game are so different that it actually seems like a different game.  Originally the biggest problem players had with source was a glitchy hitbox, which was later patched.

Counter-Strike is a very popular first-person shooter. The original Counter-Strike was a total-conversion mod of Half-Life made by a team of fans, which was bought by Valve Software to make the game an official release. Since then a stand alone game, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, has been released. In 2004, Counter-Strike: Source was made available to those who pre-ordered Half-Life 2 via Steam. Ports of Counter-Strike have showed up on the Xbox. Now, with 3 versions of the game (on the PC), Counter-Strike has become one of the largest online games ever.

Today, 1.6 CAL Leagues are still very popular and ongoing.

Strategies

Using Flash Grenades

These grenades are cheap insurance, but only use them when not in a group of teammates. Bounce them off walls so that you won't get caught by the flash.

Teamwork

Use teamwork. When someone says to "rush" a certain area, follow them. Most rushes work best when players do not stop, but run out and take as many of the enemy with them. However, many players prefer to hang back a little and let new people and/or experienced players to take care of large groups of enemies.

Terrorists

The best strategy for terrorists (in public servers) on this map is to split into two or three groups. One follow the bomb (the person holding the bomb) to the right, as if going to plant at bomb site B. Go through the double doors before the hallway to B and kill any counter-terrorists who get in the way of the bomb. Plant in view of the roof so the second group can protect it - on the target is one of the best spots - and protect.

The second group goes onto the roof area by either going left and up the stairs, then rushing onto the roof, or by jumping from a ledge by the terrorist spawn area to the window and rushing out onto the roof. The latter is faster, but the former is safer. Make sure you get the roof and protect it, because it gives the greatest leverage when planting at bomb site A. Be careful of counter-terrorists who might sneak up behind you on the roof.

One of the most popular stages, it offers many excellent strategies for both T and CT.

Terrorists

Quickly go to Bomb Site A and hide just behind the wooden gate. In some time, the CTs (Counter-Terrorists) will come by and with a good gun, as they unwittingly pass by, you simply take them out.
