The Game Rating Board (게임물등급위원회 Geimmul Deung-Geub-Wiwonhoe) (GRB) is the South Korean video game content rating board. A governmental organization, the GRB rates video games to inform customers of the nature of game contents.
Initially, the Korea Media Rating Board, a governmental organization, rated video games just like other entertainment media. However, a controversy occurred because the Korea Media Rating Board rated a gambling game called Sea Story as if it were suitable for everyone, allegedly due to a bribe. The Korean government got through the controversy by creating the GRB in 2006; it is now the only rating organization for video games.
Ratings
Four rating used by GRB:
| ALL | All: Games that everyone can play. |
| 12 | 12-year +: Games that children under the age of 12 cannot play unless accompanied by an adult. |
| 15 | 15-year +: Games that children and teenagers under the age of 15 cannot play unless accompanied by an adult. |
| 18 | Teenager and children restricted: Games that teenagers and children (under 18) cannot play. |
Most video games can be of any rating, though only 'All' and 'Teenager restricted' are permitted for arcade games.
