New Super Mario Bros. 2 (New スーパーマリオブラザーズ 2 Nyū Sūpā Mario Burazāzu Tsū?) is a platformer in the Mario series, developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. The game is a direct sequel to New Super Mario Bros., released in 2006 for the Nintendo 3DS, a follow-up to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, released in 2009 for the Wii, and the third New Super Mario Bros. game.

The game has a stronger focus on collecting coins than the other installments, introducing several ways to collect large numbers of coins. The game also keeps track of how many coins the player has collected in each level, so the player can attempt to beat old coin collection records. The game's ultimate goal is to collect one million coins. It is the first Nintendo game to be simultaneously released both as a retail release and as a downloadable title from the Nintendo eShop.

Story[edit]

Mario and Luigi are waving goodbye to Peach, then going off for a coin hunt in the sky with their Raccoon Tails similar to coin heaven in Super Mario Bros. 3. They finally come and look around and suddenly the Koopalings comes crashing down with Peach in their arms. Peach calls out to them but the Koopalings fly away. Now it is up to Mario (and Luigi) to go through various Worlds and defeat Bowser once and for all.
