Routes 38 and 39 branch off in many places, and quite a few Trainers are hanging out on the two roads. They're using Flying-, Electric-, Grass- and Water-type Pokémon, among others. Moomoo Farm is along the way, and one of its Miltank is ill. You might want to help it out.

Sign up for the Snubbull Report
Trade phone numbers with Schoolboy Chad, and wait for his call. When you get it, come back and catch your Snubbull because the odds of catching one without it are dismal.

When you fight Schoolboy Chad, make sure to grab his number - he'll tell you when Snubbull are swarming, and that's pretty much the only time you'll be able to catch one.
Save the Miltank for TM 13 and cheap milk
The Miltank in this barn is sick, and only feeding it a bunch of Berries (around seven) will save it. There's a Berry tree nearby, but it may take you a few days to accumulate that many from just that tree, so you may want to do some backtracking or dip into your personal inventory. If you saved all of your Berries from the beginning of the quest, now is the time to use them.

The ranchers will thank you with TM 13 (Snore), an attack which only works while you're asleep), and begin selling Moomoo Milk (which heals 100 HP outside of battle) for 500. It's pretty useful, but since the ranchers can only spare one bottle, you can only get one serving at a time. You'll have to bring the empty bottle back when you want to buy more.

There is a house with a farmer whose Miltank is sick, give it berries to make it healthier to get a reward, 3 makes it a little healthier, two more will make it a lot healthier and 2 more makes it completely healthy, (7 berries in total) then the Lady gives you TM13 (Snore)

| There are many pure-Normal Pokémon to choose from in Gold/Silver/Crystal but Tauros is definitely one of the best. All of its stats are great except Special Attack which it doesn't use anyway. It does however learn a single Dark-type move but its pretty weak. It no longer learns Stomp but instead learns Horn Attack, and it now learns the powerful move Thrash at level 43. Teach it TM26 Earthquake and it will be very strong.
! style="background-color:#4080ff" | Day
| Miltank is the female version of Tauros, and shares its Speed and some of its strength. It also gets two great healing moves: Milk Drink (level 19) which recovers HP and can be used on other Pokémon (like Softboiled), and Heal Bell (at level 53), which erases the negative status conditions of all your Pokémon. By keeping Normal-type move Defense Curl which now also doubles the power of Rock-type move Rollout learned at level 34, it can be very strong.

|-valign="top"
| There have been some big changes for little Magnemite. It's now Electric/Steel (instead of just Electric), which gives it resistance to everything except Ground, Fighting, and Fire (which it's weak to) and Water (which it isn't). And now it finally learns a decent late game attack, Zap Cannon, an Electric attack with a strength of 100 that always Paralyzes—but only hits half the time. The accuracy can be ignored if it learns Lock-On at level 27 which makes its next attack guaranteed to hit.
| Meowth and Persian are only able to be caught in Silver and Crystal.
Meowth starts out with Scratch and Growl and quickly learns the Dark-type move Bite at level 11. After learning unique move Pay Day, it gets a new move Faint Attack (a Dark version of Swift) at level 28. That and Bite make Meowth decent against Pyschics and great against Ghosts (who typically can't hurt Normal-types). Rounding out the move set is Normal-type move Slash, with a power of 70.

| Farfetch'd is pretty much the same old Farfetch'd... Cute but limited. In Crystal, you'll have to wait until 43/ for the chance to catch one. It can learn HMs Cut and Fly which give it some usefulness. It starts with Flying-type move Peck and it can now learn False Swipe, the move that hurts Pokémon without the risk of knocking them out, but it doesn't get that opportunity until level 44.
