The {{bp|Miltank}} in this barn is sick, and only feeding it a bunch of Berries (around seven) will save it. There's a Berry tree nearby, but it may take you a few days to accumulate that many from just that tree, so you may want to do some backtracking or dip into your personal inventory.

| [[File:Pokemon 128Tauros.png|left]] There are many pure-Normal Pokémon to choose from in Gold/Silver/Crystal but {{bp|Tauros}} is definitely one of the best. All of its stats are great except Special Attack which it doesn't use anyway. For some reason, Stomp has been replaced with Horn Attack, but it now learns Thrash at level 43.

It also gets two great healing moves: Milk Drink (level 19) which recovers HP and can be used on other Pokémon (like Softboiled), and Heal Bell (at level 53), which erases the negative status conditions of all your Pokémon.

It's now Electric/Steel (instead of just Electric), which gives it resistance to everything except Ground, Fighting, and Fire (which it's weak to) and Water (which it isn't). And now it finally learns a decent late game attack, Zap Cannon, an Electric attack with a strength of 100 that always Paralyzes—but only hits half the time.

| [[File:Pokemon 052Meowth.png|right]] {{bp|Meowth}} and {{bp|Persian}} are only in Silver and Crystal, while the Fighting-type {{bp|Mankey}} is exclusive to Gold. Its only new move of note is Faint Attack (a Dark version of Swift) at level 28. That and Bite make Meowth decent against Pyschics and great against Ghosts (who typically can't hurt Normal-types).

It can noe learn False Swipe, the move that hurts Pokémon without the risk of knocking them out, but it doesn't get that opportunity until level 44.  In Crystal, you'll have to wait until {{~|Route 43}} for the chance to catch one.
