Armor is worn to help protect oneself from attacks. Different kinds of armor provide different amounts of protection, but no armor can protect you completely. Some armor can even have disadvantages. For example, metal armor conducts magical energy and makes magic based attacks stronger.

Anything lower than mithril is pretty much useless although low level free players can use them the bonuses are pretty bad.

Spined Armor

Rock-Shell Armor

Skeletal Armor

Quest Armor

KHAZARD ARMOR - This armor is used in Fight Arena. In order to get into the Khazard Battlefield, you must be wearing this armor. However, change into better armor once you begin to fight the Khazard Ogre.

Bronze Armor

The very worst kind, not worth buying because almost immediately you can get full iron. Just about useless.

Iron Armor

The first set of armor that is actually worth buying. commonly used by pures who can't wear any real armor. Pretty useless.

Steel Armor

The first half useful set of armor for high levels, it's cheap and commonly made strictly for smithing exp. Not yet useful, but getting there.

Mithril Armor

The first set that is respectable, has a good defense and isn't outrageously expensive so it is common for pkers. Useful.

Adamant Armor

Very possibly the bane of the armor market, is barely worse than rune but drastically cheaper. Very useful.

Rune Armor

The best armor available to F2P. A full set costs about 180-200k.

Granite Armor

You can get the Body from Barbarian Assault, the Shield from Gargoyles, and the Legs from Skeletal Wyverns.

Dragon Armor

Probably the most expensive armor in the game. most of the dragon pieces can be obtained from drops from monsters, the med. helmet, chain, legs, and the two handed sword can be obtained from drops. although as of the release of barbarian assault the chain can be obtained there.

you can also get the left half of the dragon square shield from drops from monsters, you need to buy the other half at the legends guild for 750k. You need 60 smithing to put them both together.

Barrows (Set) Armor

For info on the Barrows, please see the Barrows Guide.

Barrow's armor is one of the best armors in the game, each set has it's own set effect that can be used when you have a full set of that armor.

Ahrim Armor

The magic set of barrows armor. pieces include:

Ahrim's Hood, Robe (top), robe (bottom), and staff.

Dharok Armor

Dharok armor is one of the best barrows armor.

Pieces include:

  • Dharok's great axe,
  • body,
  • legs, and
  • helmet.

Dharok's special ability: with full set and under 10% health, will hit high depending on boosts and strength

Guthan Armor

Guthan armor is one of the most expensive barrows armors.

Pieces include:

Guthan's helmet, warspear, chainskirt, and body.

The set effect of this armor is it drains health from your opponent every once in a while. You can tell when health is drained, because purple ghosts swirl around your enemy.

Karil Armor

Karil is the ranger of the barrows brothers.

Pieces include:

Karil's coif, crossbow, leathertop, and leatherskirt.

Karil's set effect lowers your opponent's agility.

Torag Armor

Torag's armor set includes:

Torag's hammers, helmet, body, and legs.

Verac Armor

Verac's armor set contains:

Verac's flail, helmet, brassard, and skirt.

Varac's set effect has a 15% chance of hitting through armor/prayer, but it WON'T enable you to hit the Kalphite Queen in the anti-melee form.

Repair Cost

  • Barrows Weapons: 100,000
  • Barrows Bodies: 90,000
  • Barrows Legs: 80,000
  • Barrows Helmets: 60,000

Ranger Armor

Rangers can use leather items along with snakeskin armor. Once your range level reaches 40, you can use dragonhide armor. At level 40, you can wear green, at 50 blue, at 60 red, and at 70 black dragon hide.

  • Leather Armor: This armor boosts your ranged a tad. It is made from cow hides.
  • Hard Leather (20 defense required): Harder than normal leather, this adds an extra defense boost.
  • Studded Leather (20 ranged and defense required): Smith the studs from steel and attach them to a normal leather body.
  • Snakeskin Armor (30 ranged/defense required): Defeat Bush Snakes in Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup or skin a dead Giant Snake in Temple Trekking. Many hides are required.
  • Ranger Boots (40 ranged required): This is found in Treasure Trails.
  • Robin Hood Hat (40 ranged required): Also found in Treasure Trails.

Magic Armor

Mages use light robe armor. At level 20 Magic, they can use Mage Robes from treasure trails. At level 40 they can use mystic armor, as long as they also have 20 defence. They can use splitbark too if they have 40 defence. At 50 you can use infinity if you have 25 defence. At level 60 you can use 3rd age Robes. You can also use Lunar Armor if you have 40 Defense. At 70 you can use Ahrim Robes, the best mage robes ever.
