Basically, units in Advance Wars 2 are divided into three groups: Ground units, Naval units and Air units.

[edit] Infantry

The Infantry unit is the basic Ground unit, and is the cheapest, with a base cost of 1000. It is the weakest of all units offensively, and it's main strengths lie in its ability to capture buildings.
Use to attack: Infantry
Can Attack: Copters, Ground

[edit] Mech

The Mech unit is a step up from the Infantry; it costs 3000 and is slower than the Infantry, only being able to move two squares in open terrain, but packs a rocket launcher that is used against vehicles to great effect. Like the Infantry, it can also capture buildings. Also, the Mech's movement is not affected on mountains.

Can Attack: Copters

[edit] Recon

The Recon unit is the cheapest vehicle available, but is both very fast - especially on roads - and can kill Infantry or Mech units easily. Also, when playing on maps with Fog of War activated, they have a greater line of sight than most other units.

[edit] APC

The APC unit is the troop carrier of the game - it cannot attack, as it has no weapons, but can transport one unit of either Infantry or Mech, supply any units it is next to and also soak up a lot of fire before being destroyed.

The Tank is the first anti-armour vehicle - it can move over a relatively long distance thanks to its tracks and is useful against both infantry, with the machine guns, and light vehicles such as Recons or enemy Tanks with their cannons.

[edit] Medium tank

Stronger than regular tanks.
Use to attack: Infantry, Ground

[edit] Neo Tank

Stronger than Medium Tanks.

[edit] Anti Air

This vehicle can shoot down aircraft in seconds but keep it away from Tanks.
Use to attack: Infantry, Copters, Planes
Can Attack: Ground

[edit] Artillery

This unit attacks units from a distance. Weak against direct combat units.
Use to attack: Infantry, Ground, Navy

[edit] Rockets

This unit can attack units from a distance. Weak against Direct combat units, stronger than Artillery with a longer range.
Use to attack: Infantry, Ground, Navy

[edit] Missles

This unit can attack air units from a distance. Cannot attack ground or naval units.
Uset to attack: Copters, Planes

[edit] Sea

[edit] Battleship

This ship is an indirect combat unit of the sea but the pride of most navys. Use to attack: Infantry, Ground

[edit] Sub

Good against most naval foes but hates the cruisers anti sub missiles. Use to attack: Navy


[edit] Cruiser

Use this ship to bring down enemy jets flying over the sea or attack subs. Transports one copter. Use to attack: Copters, Planes, Submarines

[edit] Lander

Transports two ground units
This unit cannot attack

[edit] Fighter

Use this jet to shoot down Bombers when Anti Air Vehicles are not able to stop them alone.
Use to attack: Copters, Planes

[edit] Bomber

Use this plane to support ground troops. Bombers can take down most ground units
Use to attack: Infantry, Ground
Can Attack: Navy

[edit] Battle Copter

Use this thing to take down most enemies but watch out for fighters. This is the most versatile unit, it is able to attack everything except planes.
Use to attack: Infantry, Copters, Ground
Can Attack: Navy

[edit] Transport Copter

Transports one infantry.
This unit cannot attack.
