Imperishable Night (東方永夜抄 Touhou Eiyashou?, Eastern Eternal Night Vignette) is a vertical-scrolling shooter and the eighth official installment of the Touhou series.
The Harvest Moon Festival is approaching and the youkai of Gensoukyou sense that something is wrong with the moon. It seems the moon has been replaced with a decoy. Humans and youkai unite to restore the real moon, slowing time to resolve this incident before the night ends.
In this game, you can play as four different duos:
- The Illusionary Barrier Team composed of:
- Reimu Hakurei, the Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise.
- Yukari Yakumo, the Youkai That Lurks in the Boundary, returning from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
- The Aria of Forbidden Magic Team composed of:
- Marisa Kirisame, the Ordinary Black Magician.
- Alice Margatroid, the Seven-Colored Puppeteer, returning from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
- The Visionary Scarlet Devil Team composed of:
- Sakuya Izayoi, the Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
- Remilia Scarlet, the Scarlet Devil, returning from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
- The Netherworld Dwellers Team composed of:
- Youmu Konpaku, the Half-Human Half-Phantom, returning from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
- Yuyuko Saigyouji, the Ghost of Idyll, returning from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
