Nao Mariota Pryderi is the first character you'll meet in Mabinogi, but unfortunately she won't be of much help unless you subscribe to the service named after her. She starts players off on their journey in Erinn.

For 9,500 NX a month, players can subscribe to the Nao service. In the event you are knocked down, you can use the option to call upon Nao for backup. When she appears, you will be automatically resurrected with full health, no wounds, and with all equipment blessed. It is unknown how she obtained these powers, although it may be due to her connection with Morrighan. It should be noted, however, that although Nao can manifest herself in Another World, she will not - or cannot - resurrect players there.

Additionally, upon a subscriber's birthday (the in-game day your character was created; gifts will not be given to non-subscribers of her service), Nao will arrive and deliver a random accessory to you. Different gifts are given to characters twenty years and older. She transports you to the Soul Stream to give you a present, during which time you can give her gifts or ask about her past.

Finally, Nao also gives subscribers Escape Bombs which can be used to knock all nearby enemies away in a forceful explosion. The bombs can either be used offensively or defensively; they are useful in any case where there are multiple enemies in consideration.

The bombs restock at 7AM every morning, and three resurrects are gained at 7AM every morning and one every Mabi morning, to a maximum of three resurrects.

Past

Nao discloses very little information about her past. She talks mainly about how envious she was of other girls 'maturing' faster than her. She also reveals that the top of her black dress (which is self-made) is too small. This gives the player an opportunity to give Nao a dress themselves.

Spoiler

Nao is in reality Mari reborn. She survived the catastrophe at Tir Na Nog, and serves Morrighan. Nao recruited the player to rescue Morrighan from their mutual enemy, Cichol.
