Brian's attributes[edit]

  • Health Points (HP) represent the level of physical health of Brian; if this attribute reaches zero, Brian dies, and the player has to restart from the last save point; luckily, every other attribute does not revert to the level it was when the game was saved.
  • Magic Points (MP) determine the amount of magic that can be used; MP regenerate quickly just by walking.
  • Defense (Def) reduces the damage dealt by enemies.
  • Agility (Agi) determines the probability that Brian's attacks succeed and enemies attacks miss.
  • Spirit & Attack: Spirit determines the number of spells that Brian knows, but also the attack level of his magic staff.

Improving the attributes[edit]

In a similar fashion to Final Fantasy 2, Brian's attributes gain experience by using them.

  • Health Points and defense are raised by taking damage.
  • Magic Points and spirit are raised by using magic.
  • Agility is raised by dodging enemy attacks and by walking around during battle.

The maximum value for every attribute is 500, except for Spirit. In fact, the maximum value of each of the four Element Spirits is 50.

Weapons and armors[edit]

The hero of this video game is a magician. Expert players of role-playing video games will know that magicians always have a very limited selection of anyway light equipment.

Brian is no exception, in fact he follows this rule even more strictly: he starts with just his cape for armor and just his staff for weapon, and keeps them to the end of the game.

  • Instead of weapons, Brian can use the Fire spells Power Staff L1/L2 and Vampire's Touch;
  • Instead of armors, Brian can use the Earth spells Spirit Armor L1/L2 and Magic Barrier;
  • Instead of shields, Brian can use the Wind spells Evade L1/L2 and Wind Walk;
  • (Just for completion, Water provides three healing spells: Healing L1/L2 and Invalidity).
