Another good way to take him down is to use the[[Castlevania: Circle of the Moon/DSS#Mercury/Golem|Mercury/Golem]] this will give you longer reach. You then just stand on the left or right side by a door and avoid attacks. When he stops attacking, jump hit him, get back in the hole and repeat. It takes a while, but is less detrimental on health.
