Lhant Hill[edit]

Lhant Hill is a good place to practice battle due to its regenerative spring.

After deciding on some basic settings (the normal difficulty is recommended for a first playthrough), the story will begin. After the scene, start by heading left. In a chest nestled within some brush is Apple Gel x3. Now head right toward the spring for the first skit of the game, Skit #001Wellspring of Deceit. Keep in mind that the spring restores all health, so this is a good time to get a hang of the battle system. All the way off to the right is a Glassphere, and partway up the hill, behind a bush to the right, is a Life Bottle. This is the last of the treasures on Lhant Hill, so you may now proceed to the top for a scene.

Head back down to the previous screen for a skit by the save point, Skit #002Rebel Without a Cause. Continue down the hill and exit to the south to make your way back to Lhant, but first, head left. Up here is a chest containing another Glassphere and a sparkle, which you can examine to obtain a random item. Now head right toward town, passing by a save point with another skit (Skit #369Seek the Sparkles!) before entering.

Lhant[edit]

After collecting some items and a skit, head toward Asbel's house to the right of town to progress the story.

After the scene, feel free to speak to anyone in town; doing so may earn you a title later on. You can also enter a house up the stairs, to the right of the windmill (to the left is Cheria's house, which you can't enter yet); speak to the dog for an Apple Gel, speak to the Elderly Woman for a Pickled Plum, and search the closet for Pork x2. You can conclude this look around town by heading down toward a bridge for Skit #003Poor Choice of Words. Now, walk toward the right of town. Stepping onto the Lhant family's property will trigger a scene.

While it doesn't hurt to ask around, Bailey is the only person in town who you must speak to.

Before asking around town as instructed, enter the Lhant mansion to find a skit by the save point, Skit #005Family Ties. To the right of the second floor is the entrance to Asbel and Hubert's room, and within this room to the right is the Enemy Book and Skit #004Rash Justice.

You can now exit the mansion and speak to Bailey on the bridge. Then, continue past the bridge and take the fork to the left. After the scene, approach the apple tree for Apple x3, the Apple Trees Discovery, and Skit #006The Fruit of Ignorance. You can also speak to the guard that gave you the Discovery Book for 100 Gald; when given the choice, say "we're not little kids!" Then, answer his questions correctly (Wolf Pup, Wooly Boar, Giant Bee) for the prize. Now that you have the Discovery Book, head toward the windmill for the Lord Windegarde Discovery (and climb up for Skit #007Full of Hot Air), then to the portrait in Asbel's house for the Family Portrait Discovery (and Skit #008Age Is Just a Number). You can now continue past the apple tree to West Lhant Road.

West Lhant Road[edit]

Check out the sparkles here for a randomly-generating Magic Carta card.

By the save point is Skit #009Boys and Boats. Along the path, you should spot the Gel Seeds Discovery by a Traveler and a tree, as well as Gel Seed x3 and Skit #010Not for Human Consumption. To the left of the tree is a chest containing a Glassphere. Continue down the path to reach the beach, at which point you can speak to the Turtlez for a tutorial on dualizing. Approach the Beastmaster by the cottage for a scene, then approach the save point for Skit #011Abracadabra. By a tree to the left is a chest containing Rice x5. In some grass by this chest is a sparkle, and there's another right by the shore. If you haven't collected Magic Carta No. 3 from any of the sparkles in this area by now, you'll have to try again next time.

Turn back down the path and return to Lhant.

Return to Lhant[edit]

Sidequests #1 and #2
Approach Cheria's house as soon as you reenter Lhant to trigger #1, and go up the stairs after leaving Aston's study for #2. Both are missable.

Before heading back to the mansion, go to Cheria's house to the left for Sidequest #1, Wishing the Pain Away. You can speak to her again afterward for an Apple Gel before entering the mansion for your punishment. Enter through the door to the left of the first floor for a scene and the Lord's Heir title for Asbel, but before exiting the mansion, head up the stairs. To the left of the second floor is Sidequest #2, A Private Conversation.

Exit the mansion for a scene after which the mysterious girl obtains a title. Reenter the mansion and head up to Asbel and Hubert's room for Skit #012Chronic Uncertainty before following Aston to East Lhant Highroad (past the shops).

East Lhant Highroad and the royal guest[edit]

This giant bird attacks very slowly, giving you plenty of opportunities to dodge.

Approach the save point for Skit #013A Cheeky Retort, then head to the lake down the slope off to the right. Here you'll find a chest holding Apple Gel x2 and the Cryas Shards discovery, along with Skit #014Little Treasures. Head back up the slope and continue forward for a scene that leads into what can be considered your first boss fight. Fortunately, you have a healer in your party in Sophie, but try not to rely on her too much. The bird attacks by slowly swinging its talons your way, so try to side-step these attacks and counterattack while its focus is elsewhere. If Sophie doesn't spend any time healing, she can help you stagger it, making this battle go by much quicker.

After the battle, stop by the same save point for Skit #015A Wild Seed Takes Root before returning to Lhant. Keep in mind that a sparkle in this area will give you Magic Carta No. 1, but if you don't pick it up now, you can always come across it later. Back in Lhant, approach the doors to the manor but don't enter. Make a right turn to gain access to the windows to the guest room. After the scene, exit the manor for another. Head to the bridge for Skit #016A Wild Seed Bears Fruit before exiting to North Lhant Road.

Return to Lhant Hill[edit]

Bryce in 60 Seconds
Bronze Trophy unlocked.png
Bryce in 60 Seconds
Defeated that jerk with the claw in a minute or less.

You can speak to the guards by the entrance of Lhant Hill for an Apple Gel, and now that you have the Discovery Book, you can properly record the Spring of Healing as a Discovery. Save before heading up to the top of Lhant Hill and prepare for a boss fight.

Bryce shouldn't be too difficult as long as you guard and dodge properly. If Sophie needs to heal, keep Bryce distracted by dodging around, but if you want the trophy for defeating him in 60 seconds, you'll have to perform some aggressive combos. As long as you're able to juggle Bryce between Asbel and Sophie for a bit, Bryce should be easy to finish off. A scene follows which leaves the party on the Lhant Hill Cliffs, but fortunately, Richard has finally decided to join the party as a fighter.

Hold circle (B on the Wii) to slow down and avoid having to tap a button constantly.

Walk around the beach for Skit #018Face Time and open the chest nearby (between the boulder and the path leading up) for Pickled Plum x3 before proceeding up. The cliffs are steep, meaning plenty of opportunities to fall off and end up back at the start; to avoid frustration, tap Cross button furiously when you see Asbel tip over the cliff or hold Circle button to have him slow down. Otherwise, the path back up the hill is pretty straightforward. Cross a narrow path to the right for Life Bottle x2, then continue forward for the Abandoned Nest Discovery and Skit #020A Brother's Pride. A short walk from the nest will be the boss fight that concludes your trek up the Cliffs; the bears should be defeated without any trouble with all three party members. Just stand back if you need Sophie to heal you, and keep in mind that you can switch to Richard or Sophie if you'd prefer to play as one of them (unless, of course, you're playing with others who have already called them).

Defeat the bears for Skit #019About Face. A short walk ahead will lead to a chest containing a Glassphere and some roots that you can climb to return to the top of Lhant Hill. After the scene, you'll obtain Pact Maker titles for all three party members and Skit #022The Meaning of Friendship. Turn back toward the tree before approaching the search party for the Friendship Tree Discovery and Skit #021The Facts on Pacts. Now you can begin to make your way down the hill, back toward Lhant. On the way there, stop by the spring for Skit #017Fight or Fright.

Return to Lhant for some scenes, then head to East Lhant Highroad.

East Lhant Highroad and Port to Barona[edit]

If you've already purchased the Manual Manual, this chest will instead hold 100 Gald.

By the save point upon entering the area is Skit #023You Can't Force It. After crossing the bridge, head left of it for a sparkle and right of it for a Glassphere. Progress down the path to reach a cottage and trigger a scene. By the save point outside the cottage is Skit #024Weird Is Weird and inside is a chest containing the Manual Manual. Back outside, continue up the slope to the right. Along the path, you should spot a curving road that leads into a meadow full of cows. To the left of this road is a sparkle and to the right is a chest containing 300 Gald. Follow the road down to the cows and examine the oddly-colored one for the Windor Cows Discovery, Milk, and Skit #025Stick and Mooove. Continue forward to the Port to Barona.

Speak to a child off to the left for some Rice and enter the residence past him to find Bread x2 and Lettuce x2 in the display cabinets. Back outside, speak to the traveler nearby for Dried Seaweed. Once you're ready to go, speak to the ship captain for a ride to Barona Port.

Barona[edit]

Take the stairs up to the city, and continue to climb them after the scene. An elderly woman on a bench will give you a Feather and a guard down the steps will give you a Tomato. Past the guard is a path leading down the center of the town lined by some shops, but don't go down it just yet. To the right of this path is the inn, which you can enter to find Skit #026Through the Ringer by the save point. Exit the inn and head past the shops to enter the Castle District.

After meeting up with a new friend and exploring, head up the stairs down the center of the Castle District.

A residence to the right has Pie Sheet x2 and Egg x2 in some display cabinets, but there's nothing else noteworthy here. Head up the stairs to the left of the square and make a right at the fork (two women chatting it up will be blocking the narrower staircase to the left). Speak to the guard at the end of this path, standing to the left of the castle gate, for a scene. Head back down the stairs afterward and take the staircase that had previously been blocked for another scene. Approach the valkines cryas for the Gloandi Discovery and Skit #028Everything Worth Knowing. Return to the inn's save point for Skit #027To Be a Knight and Skit #029Pact Attack before heading for North Barona Road, down the center of the Castle District.

Down an off-road path to the left is a Glassphere. Back on the main path, look for some sparkles that may randomly generate Magic Carta No. 2. Under a tree to the right is Beef x2, and up the hill past the cottage is a scene. Afterward, return to Barona's inn for another scene, after which you can speak to the innkeeper to check in for the night.

Return to the Castle District and head all the way east this time. After the scene, enter the Royal Sanctuary.

Barona Catacombs[edit]

Examine the running water to the right of the shrine for the Water of Absolution Discovery and Skit #030The Boy Who Knew Everything. Examine the passage to the left to enter the Catacombs. The enemies in here will be a bit tougher than the ones out in the field, so feel free to practice on them before the coming boss. By a stone door along the path is Skit #370Revenge Will Be Mine!, and after that a fork; the right and center paths lead to 500 Gald and Apple Gel x3, respectively, and the left path that winds upward leads to a Glassphere and another fork. Head up first to find a Life Bottle, then down for a save point, Skit #031Sticky Situation, and the exit to the boss. Saving is, of course, recommended.

Get the smaller bats out of the way while the rest of the party distracts the Monarch Bat.

The Monarch Bat is a tough opponent for the kids to handle, coming with the ability to cast spells and shoot sonic rays your way, as well as smaller bats in tow. Taking out the smaller bats first is recommended, as another party member will no doubt focus on keeping the big bat occupied while you do so. They're weak enough to be removed from the equation quickly, but can be pests if left to stick around, particularly if Sophie is attempting to heal. That said, whenever the Monarch Bat begins to cast a spell, switch targets immediately and attack it before it can finish; allowing it to do so will heavily damage a party member or two even if you manage to dodge it.

As for the Monarch Bat itself, use the same strategy as you did with Bryce; while it will take some time to defeat, it is still one target against three. Cycle out attacks with party members as you recharge CC to keep the combo going or have everyone pounce it at the same time to effectively stagger it; either way, dodge and block liberally. This essentially serves as the final boss of the childhood arc, so as long as you defeat this one bat, you'll be able to move onto adulthood. Enjoy the scenes that follow and make sure to save before moving onto the next chapter.
