Thunderbirds (1988) Mission 4 title screen.png

Once the program has been loaded into the console, you have to press either:  1  to select keyboard control,  2  for Interface 2 joystick control,  3  for Kempston joystick control, or  0  to play the first mission; you can also press  M  to turn the music (which, as in the first Thunderbirds game, is a remix of the show's theme song by Barry Gray, 1908-1984) off and on. If you press  1 ,  2 , or  3 , the text "YOU SELECTED KEYS Z, X, O, K/INTERFACE 2/KEMPSTON. IS THIS OK Y/N?" shall appear on the screen - and if you press  Y  the game will proceed to the password screen, but if you press  N  it shall return to the previous screen. Assuming you pressed  Y  the text "PASSWORD FOR ABOVE MISSION?" shall appear on the screen, and when you type in ANDERSON, the text "PASSWORD CORRECT!" shall appear next to it - and the game will then proceed to the equipment selection screen, where you have to select two of six items (two pairs of dark glasses, tube of superglue, yo-yo, gun, and first aid kit) for Scott Tracy (pilot of Thunderbird 1) to take on the mission (the correct ones are one pair of dark glasses and the tube of superglue). You then have to select two of the four remaining items for Virgil Tracy (pilot of Thunderbird 2) take on the mission; the correct items are the other pair of dark glasses, and the gun (yet again, without all four of these items, you have no chance of winning). For the Commodore Amiga version of the game, this mission is called "Countdown to Disaster".

Time: 24 (1 second in game time is worth 15 seconds in real time)

Once Scott has appeared at the top of the map shown above (indicated by that text "THIS IS INTERNATIONAL RESCUE - THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!" scrolling past at the top of the screen and the pictures of both him and his brother Virgil changing for to indicate their equipment exchanging hands), you shall immediately have to switch to Virgil and make him start walking to the left onto an elevator; once you have done so, you will have to switch back to Scott and make him walk to the right (there's a Pac-Man pinball machine in the bar!), drop the pair of dark glasses and the tube of superglue, climb up a ladder, walk to the left and pick up a key. You will now have to walk to the left until you come to two lamps on bedside tables, knock the first one over to reveal a paper, and pick it up - and once you have done so, you will have to retrace your steps back down to the bottom of that first ladder, walk back to the left onto the elevator, use the key and paper on it to activate it and pick up the dark glasses and tube of superglue again before it goes down a floor.

Once both Tracy brothers have reappeared upon the floor below, you will have to make Scott walk to the right and drop the tube of superglue again (the Hood's robot guard will come walking towards you but get stuck in it); once you have done so, you will have to walk back to the left and pick up a limpet mine. You will then have to walk back to the right (past the Hood's robot guard, but because it's stuck in the superglue, it shall not hurt you), climb down another ladder, and walk to the right until you come to a force field - and once you've done so, you shall have to switch back to Virgil, follow Scott's path down to the force field, and fire the gun three times at the three glass bubbles on the wall to shatter them (and make the force field lift itself up). You will then have to: walk to the right, climb up a third ladder, walk to the right, climb down a fourth ladder, walk to the left, climb down a fifth ladder, walk to the right, climb down a sixth ladder, and walk to the right until you've reached a room with a computer; once you've done so, you'll have to press the switch on the wall then switch back to Scott, follow Virgil's path up to the top of the third ladder, climb up a seventh ladder, walk to the right, climb up an eighth ladder, walk to the left, climb up a ninth ladder, walk to the right until you have passed another computer, and press the switch on the wall. Once you've done this, you will have to walk back to the left - and you will notice that there is now an opening in the missile (called "HOOD 1") in the background, so you will have to drop the limpet mine into its opening. You shall then have to walk back to the right and pick up a photographic film to finish this mission (as well as the game); once you have done so, the text "THE WORLD IS ALIVE WITH THE NEWS OF TODAY. THUNDERBIRDS SAVE THE WORLD, HOLOCAUST AVERTED. THE VILLAINOUS HOOD IS CURSING THE NAME OF INTERNATIONAL RESCUE AND HAS VOWED TO RETURN. YOU HAVE COMPLETED ALL THE MISSIONS AND ENSURED THE FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL RESCUE." shall scroll across at the top of the screen. The text of "YOU HAVE COMPLETED ALL THE LEVELS NOW, RESET THE COMPUTER TO LOAD A NEW MISSION." shall then scroll across at the screen's top and repeat until it is reset, and the International Rescue team will later return for a third Thunderbirds game, this one on the NES, in 1989.
