Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello GPS51! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or visit the IRC channel to chat, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Procyon 21:42, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box, which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Procyon 21:42, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Please pay attention to your talk page and to the comments in the deletion. Use the Table of Contents preload button to properly create the Table of Contents page for your guide. Thank you. Procyon 03:33, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Easier editing[edit]

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. Thanks for working on the wiki! — Procyon 17:59, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Signing guide pages[edit]

While signing your posts on talk pages is good etiquette, please do not sign your contributions to pages other than discussion pages. These guides are a shared work based on the contributions of many people and everyone's contributions are noted in the pages' edit histories. Thanks for helping us keep guide pages clean! — Moydow T · C 22:54, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Game Name images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Moydow T · C 22:54, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Please see this edit for an example of how to correctly categorise images. --Moydow T · C 23:08, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Your contributions.[edit]

Listen, I'm glad that you guys are creating a guide for Dawn of Fantasy, but I really have to object to your most recent contribution. I just spent over half an hour cleaning it up, and I really didn't enjoy doing it. Doing a copy / paste of someone elses guide, whether you have permission or not, without going through it to clean it up and make it more presentable is extremely irresponsible, especially when the author is a self-professed non-native speaker of English. The grammar and the spelling mistakes were bad enough, but you've been on the site long enough to know by now that we maintain a strict Neutral-Point-of-View. There is no use of first person throughout any of the writing in these guides because they are open to anyone and everyone to author and edit. Naming the guide after the author was a very minor offense and easily correctable, but the amount of first person that had to be removed from the guide to make it acceptable was ridiculous. Please try to put greater effort in the quality of your contributions. It's not fair to put that kind of responsibility on the rest of the staff of the site. Thank you. Hi GPS51. Thanks for your reply. I personally should know better than to fire off a message immediately after doing cleanup work, as I tend to be a little more aggravated than the situation truly warrants. We're very happy that you're establishing a guide for DoF here, and we'll do everything we can to support you. Thanks for your efforts, and you're doing a fine job overall. What I'd recommend is to take a look at some of our featured guides and take a look at some of the layouts and tricks that are used to get some ideas of how to arrange your own content. Let me know if you have any questions. Procyon 19:43, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
