In the fantasy world of Mabinogi, you will encounter different types of monsters. For these, you will need different types of weapons.

Beginning weapons[edit | edit source]

These weapons are available to you at the beginning of the game. You can buy more weapons later, but this is just what you can wield for now.

  • Eiry: A short-sword enchanted with a spirit that Nao grants you at the beginning of the game. For those Mabinogian "veterans", it could also be known as an Ego Weapon (without the fancy stuff). It has the same attack as the basic shortsword and will serve you well at the beginning of the game. Note that this cannot be kept forever. Eiry cannot be thrown away, or sold. So, you are going to have to live with it until you level up to at least level 26.
  • Dagger: A very, very short sword, but don't underestimate its size or its pitiful damage. It is the weapon with the most balance, the most critical, and costs a mere 1500 gold. With the right upgrades and enchants, it has the potential to become a formidable three-hitting weapon that can deliver three criticals in a row. Be warned though; it has low durability.
  • Wooden Stick: Good weapon if you don't enough money for a club, or if bare hands is your only other choice.
  • Wooden Club: With the good damage, cheap cost and flexibility, it is the weapon of choice for those who do not choose to use Eiry.
  • Long sword: This is an above average 3000 gold weapon. The average long sword has approximately 15 Attack power, which is less than the Bastard Sword.
  • Bastard sword: High damage, 2 hit combo sword, and costs 6000 gold. Advanced Mabinogians can also do a 3 hit combo.

Advanced weapons[edit | edit source]

Don't just stick with the beginner weapons; choose among the others as well and learn how to use them. Don't use a claymore right away, because it is designed for those with high dexterity or those who can afford upgrades.

  • Gladius: Perhaps the best one-hander so far. High damage, good balance, good critical, but a slow two-hitter. You may perform the three hit combo with this one as well. It costs around 9000ish gold in Bangor.
  • Two-Handed Sword: Your standard two-hander. Decent balance, good damage, terrible critical, and another slow two-hitter. With this, you can do the 3 hit combo as well. You can pay 29,500 gold, or you may complete the "Hunt 1 Ogre Warrior quest" to get a free one. It's very similar to the Warhammer in terms of damage.
  • Claymore: The sword of choice for every knight. Possibly one of the most well known weapons in Mabinogi. It is basically a two-hander, except with lower balance, higher critical, more max damage, and less minimum damage. You may also notice that it is very similar to the Mace in terms of max damage, and a cost of 31,500 gold. If you are a new player, you're better off with the Gladius than this weapon.
  • Warhammer: Relatively cheap, at a reasonable 4200 gold. It has relatively high max damage and good critical, but incredibly low minimum damage, and terrible balance. It is also a two-hitter, and is best suited for those with high dexterity or the means to upgrade it.
  • Mace: 6000 gold, like the bastard sword. It is basically a two-hit Warhammer with higher damage, higher critical, and a bit less balance. Once again, it's best suited for those with high dexterity or for those who can upgrade it.

Special weapons[edit | edit source]

There are also special weapons that cannot be bought in shops, but have to be found or made. They tend to be quite expensive as well.

  • Machete: Very slow. So slow, that it only gets one hit and knocks back (perfect strategy). It also has very low durability (1/x), horrible balance, and horrid minimum damage. But it gets extremely high max damage, and is repairable. The Machete costs at least 75,000 gold.
  • Gargoyle Sword: Very slow, like the machete, and gets one hit (and knockback). It always has one durability, and cannot be repaired. It has the worst balance out of anything you can get, and has very low minimum damage, and incredibly high maximum damage. Best suited for those with insanely high dexterity at a cost of at least 75,000 gold.
  • Ghost Sword: These can only be handcrafted, and they have only one use. It has perfect 100% balance and high minimum and maximum damage (50/50), but no critical. It has a very distinct role when it comes to the hardest dungeon in Mabinogi, Peaca. Use it wisely. Perfect ego food, one way or another, and doesn't cost more than 10,000 gold.
