Hearts

Hearts are used to play stages. There are two sources of Hearts:

  • Recharge Hearts: Every 30 minutes, you earn a free Heart, up to 5 Hearts. As soon as you are below 5, it starts recharging.
  • Stored Hearts: Earned by either trading Gems for them or for free via StreetPassing other players, these Hearts can be saved up for use anytime.

Coins

Coins are used to purchase power-ups at the start of a stage and Great Balls when attempting to capture a Pokémon. They are earned in several ways:

  • Clearing any Stage earns 30+ Coins. If it is the first time, a bonus amount is earned.
  • Beating either the regular Meowth Stage #37 (up to +500 Coins) or the Sunday Meowth Coin Challenge (a single-attempt per day challenge that can fairly easily earn hundreds to thousands of Coins, depending on a player's skill and luck).
  • Checking In daily (earns 500 or 1,000 Coins, after set amounts of Check Ins).
  • Exchanging Gems for Coins.

Jewels

Jewels are a special in-game currency, used to trade in for either Hearts or Coins from the Gem Shop, or to buy an additional 5 turns/10 seconds when failing a Stage.

Jewels are obtained in several ways:

  • Prize for the first time beating a Mega Pokemon in Normal Stages.
  • Prize for beating certain Event Challenges.
  • Gift from Codes, Checking In, or Streetpassing (a limited number earned any of these ways).
  • Purchased with your funds from the Nintendo eShop.
