Safehouses

Like in Grand Theft Auto IV, you can purchase safehouses with money you earn from missions and other activities. Here you can save your progress between missions, and change outfits. If autosave is enabled, your progress is saved to a separate autosave file after each mission, as well as after other events such as choosing a new horse. By using the Satchel menu, you can pitch a campsite in the wilderness, which acts like a temporary safehouse - you can save your game and change outfits, but you are also able to fast travel to settlements in the area you are in. You can pitch unlimited campsites, and you can upgrade them from stores in towns around The Frontier.

Getting Around

You can whistle for your horse at any time by pressing Up dpad. Your horse has stamina which decreases as you go faster, and if if fully depletes, your horse will stop and throw you off the horse. A horse's maximum stamina increases as it becomes more loyal to you.

At many settlements, you can hire a stagecoach taxi to take you to other areas of the territory you are currently in. You have the option to skip the journey if you want. You can also take a train ride from a train station - found at most large settlements - or by jumping onto a moving train from your horse.
