The player's ship can freely fly around by turning and using thrust; however, when the player flies into an area with a sectoid or two in it, the sectoid(s) will automatically tether itself/themselves to the player and start flying around in a circle (which occurs in the first and third levels). If the player allows it/them to fly around long enough it/they will take away one or more shield units. If all of the player's shield units are destroyed then the game will end.

The player's ship can also become damaged by a sectoid boss (in the same manner of a sectoid, as the bosses in the first and third levels will also tether themselves to the player's ship). Colliding with a wall segment will also cause one unit of damage to the player's ship (except for the walls of the chamber housing Oculis in level two, which will instantly destroy it), as well as being shot by Oculis in the second level. Touching Sectis' cocoon or taking the full brunt of an explosion by a colliding Mourning Star in level 2 will destroy the player's ship.

Characters

Player's ship

The player's ship comes with five shield units and can rapidly fire several shots. The player's goal is to survive three levels and destroy Sectis at the end. Cruci-FIX repair kits can restore one unit of shields to the player's ship and the player's shields get totally replenished with the completion of a level.

Sectoids

These creatures guarding hell instantly attach themselves to the player's ship if the player enters an area that has one or more sectoids in it. They move at the exact same speed as the player's ship, making them hard to shoot. With every successful rotation around the player's ship they take away a shield unit.

Sectoid boss

This behaves in the exact same manner as a regular sectoid, but is a lot larger and takes five hits to be removed. This appears at the end of level 1 only.

Oculis

This boss appears at the end of level 2 and is encased by a deadly wall. Oculis spins around, tracking the player and shooting fireballs that take away a shield unit with each hit. Oculis is only vulnerable from behind.

Sectis

Sectis appears at the very end of the game, starting off as a cocoon and only emerges when all 25 sectoids in the level have been shot. He takes five hits to be destroyed.
