| ←→ | Move left or right. |
| ↑ | Aim upwards or climb ladders, ropes, vines, etc. Hold up and press X to open a crate or chest. Hold to pan the camera upwards. |
| ↓ | Aim downwards or crawl. Crawl to an edge to hang. Hold to pan the camera downwards. |
| Z | Jump. |
| X | Attack with your whip, throw the currently held item, or use the currently equipped item. Press while holding Up to open a crate or chest. |
| C | Toggle between equipping a rope, bomb, or nothing. |
| A | Quickly equip and throw a bomb. |
| S | Quickly equip and throw a rope. |
| Shift | Run. |
