Easier editing

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. No problem. If I post anything here it is for both StrategyWiki's benefit (it saves us time if you do things more efficiently), as well as your own benefit (learning makes you better). What do you mean by "editing part"? It looks like you figured out how to sign your name here, on this talk page. We do not allow people to sign their names on guide pages. You should check out the Animal Crossing: New Leaf guide for layout ideas. A couple of us have worked hard to get a good table of contents set up. You'll see we have content for furniture sets (work in progress) but I'm sure a lot of that stuff is the same across the series. Minx (talk) 22:21, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Preload buttons

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{Header Nav}} to the top and {{Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Awesome, I'll look it over. In the meantime, I noticed a few things missing from the city page (Marquee, HRA, and fortune teller) and information on the town shops/Town Hall. If you could add that in, that would be great. If not, no sweat, I'll get to it. I'm surprised at how fast you got through everything. I have a feeling this will be a level 4 guide soon. :D Also, just a little note: instead of writing stuff like "A button", you can use {{wii|A}} to show an image of it there instead. NES and SNES games

I don't know if you care for emulators or have a problem with them, but you can play games online with a computer with Java installed at virtualnes.com and virtualsupernes.com (they have a game boy one, too). This isn't preferable, since you can't save games (AFAIK), but it's cool for checking out titles you haven't heard of. Also, the RetroN5 is coming out soon, which can play NES, SNES, japanese versions of those, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 16:20, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Additionally, if you have an Android phone or tablet, you can find a number of emulators available for download on the Google Play Store. Personally, I use devices like the JXD S7300 and JXD S7800 which are built for gaming (Google them to find out more.) Closed Table

Rod, if it helps you, you can use an old programmers trick. Just as soon as you open the table with the {|, immediately close it with |}, and then start adding all the contents in between. You're most likely to remember to close the table immediately after you open in. Procyon 23:43, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Mario Party mini games guides

Like I set up on Mario Party/1-player minigames, I believe we should use headers for the mini-games so that the info can be expanded to include screenshots and other helpful tips other than just the game's statistics and general description. Mario Party/Mini-Game Island

Are the mini games in this challenge any different than the ones played normally throughout the game? If they are just normal games, we can convert these lists to tables and then link to the page we have put them on (e.g. 3 vs. 1 minigames). No there the same thing, the only thing that is different you have to place first, collect a certain amount of coins, or pass the finish line, In the Mario Party/Mini-Game Island.

Ok, so that page should list, for each game, the requirement for continuing. No other info should be given. Instead, a link should be given. The page can probably be changed to mostly table form, except for the intro of course, and is probably best moved to the appendices section, as it is not part of the main game (not a game board, but a sort of mega-minigame). --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 17:48, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
