:Hi {{user|Trig Jegman}}. Yeah, I captured a lot of those images personally, especially the single screen games like Combat, Bubble Bobble, Lode Runner, and Chack'n Pop.  Other games like Castle Excellent and Athena were done so long ago, I'm not sure I'd be able to locate them again if I tried.  I have a tendency to add markup to them in the process of making them consumable for a walkthrough.  I know this isn't the most satisfactory answer, but it's the best I have right now.  If I somehow conjure up the source for some of the other images, I'll let you know.  But I'm more likely to stumble across them accidentally than intentionally.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 03:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Hey Procyon,

== Thanks for the note ==
No problem! After I finish the RSE guide, I'm going to apply the new templates me and Prod made to the FRLG pages too - Hopefully, it'll decrease the file size for them. Then I'll probably check out the other Pokémon guides to see what they're like, and maybe go onto a different franchise. [[User:Pakuchi|Pakuchi -- ''Someone! Anyone! ==I need some guidance==
Hi Procyon! Um, honestly I am kind of embarrassed on pinging you about this considering that you are the head of StrategyWiki, but the thing is, I want to ask for guidance from you regarding about some of my guides because recently I have been thinking of something, I want to know what you think and what will be your advice to me regarding about this, this will be somewhat long so I hope you have time to read, also thank you very much for writing on my Talk page along with Prod, so here it is, I've been thinking of this for quite a while now.

== Thanks for the suggestion ==
You see, I have these 2 games named Astrobatics and Alien Sky that I made a Stage 2 guide from, and what bothers me is that no matter how much I think of how to improve the guides for these 2 (I can still improve them, in fact 2 more overhauls each but it is not that significant anymore) I can't really think of what more I can provide for these 2 games to make the guides for them Stage 3 eligible, the issue I am thinking about is its levels, or missions as what the games refer, it is some sort of a real time mission

Thanks for the suggestion, Procyon. (*deep breath*) that puts a load of my chest. I'll just stick it where it was then , as it seems the best place to put it to me. And I doubt anyone will have a problem. Thanks again for the encouragement. [[User:Myth|Myth]] 14:07, 7 June 2007 (CDT)
Here are some samples of it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRzhucERGqE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7X_VzuQG14

== Crystal ==
The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through

That's easy, I'm matching the Yellow policy (finally....). -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 20:10, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
Explaining these missions "down to the bone" as in referring to where would enemies come in, come out, and all that, just feels like unnecessary information and nobody would basically read it, a good example of a game just like this is '''Sky Force Reloaded''', a game I have also nearly mastered a few months ago, I even have my runs in this game uploaded in my YouTube account and I can provide a sample, and just like these 2 games, Sky Force Reloaded also has the same kind of level, basically real time, it has predictable pacing but the levels are way too complex to be torn apart into text + picture form, if you want to recognize the levels of this game you would rather want to just do a trial and error, train your mind memory and muscle memory until you recognize where will enemies appear since enemy positions and appearances don't change, only drops do.

== Re: correcting new authors ==
I have been thinking just now that what if the guides for Astrobatics and Alien Sky are already Stage 3 eligible at this point? I will still have to improve them but I believe once I did, they should be at least Stage 3 eligible, but I am afraid that some people may attempt to dispute its ranking and say that it may miss an information, which is also a big problem on my part because I cannot look for someone who has played these 2 games, finished it completely, and then decide to pay my guide a visit and judge it

You're right, Procyon. I was too harsh on him. I wasn't trying to be, but I was just frustrated. Not that that excuses my comments. I also didn't know he was new (which is why I was harsher on him). I'll go apologize on his talk page. But I do believe that I should leave him a message so he knows what he's doing wrong. Thanks for the comment, though. [[User:Myth|Myth]] 00:26, 10 June 2007 (CDT)
Assuming that you gave me a go signal to make these guides Stage 3 eligible, I will take that into mind and once I have finally provided 2 more major overhauls I will upgrade it to Stage 3, then, if I was able to find someone who can read these guides and tell me how it is, if it came out as having a really good review saying that it is comprehensive enough, then I will upgrade it to Stage 4 but this is a process that I won't be able to do in just days unless if I am lucky enough to find one quick.

::I think you took my comments the wrong way, Procyon. I didn't want you to leave me alone or anything like that. I just honestly thought that I was being helpful. And as far as editting a talk page, I never said I was going to do anything like that. The whole point of this was a question regarding the link to a website on a talk page. And as far as where I got the idea that it was against the rules to link a site to your talk page, it might be for Wikipedia... Anyways, sorry if I sounded rude or confusing to you. Obviously it is fine to link a site to your talk page as long as it isn't major (and I guess if you're the owner it's fine). So thank you for the help and sorry again. ==Big Brain Academy==
== Question ==
Hi, I've just been updating the Big Brain Academy guide. I think it was me who did most of it under a different name a long while back but I can't remember. Anyway I've made it a bit better adding pictures and more navigation. It is a hard game to write about as there is very little in the game but I've tried to cover every single aspect of the game!

So, as I think you are a moderator/admin (I hope you are!), I was wonderng if you could give it a score. Personally, having owned the game, I can tell you that I've covered everything and would give it a 4 and a "completed"! But you may spot a few things wrong! Thanks. [[User:Poiuytre|Poiuytre]] 12:55, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
Hi i was wondering, would you prefer when writing an article (e.g. enemies guide), if i had to make a quick change and I didn’t have the time to go through an entire thing at once, would you prefer me to initially either list them as headers that are empty underneath or list them in dots points (in case) and then expand on them when i have the chance? Thank you [[User:Sclera1|Sclera1]] ([[User talk:Sclera1|talk]]) 06:28, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

::Lol, actually I didn't know that anyone could "review" any guide by giving it a 4 (or 1, 2, 3)! Anyway I think that it's 3 Yes's to the questions. Like I said it is a very simple game and I do think my parents could pick up and play it after reading the guide! So I'm going to give it a four. Thanks again. Procyon, I need your help, there is a lot of enemies in the New Zealand Story, And the art program I use can only hold 700 pixels and will get the picture blurry, Can you help me please. Also can you make all the character sprites what yo did to that Pac-Man Sprites it looks more cool.

Yo 'sup Procyon. Thanks for taking the time to check my progress on the Tekken 3 Movelist. I want you to know that its not that I find the format daunting but its more like I dont get enough net time to perform major editing. Hence the help requests. I am from Trinidad, an island in the Caribbean, and my only access to free net is through my phone line using my neighbour's laptop.(I no longer have a cpu of my own as it was damaged. I intend to build one but I'm waiting for the finances). Its very hard to work on the net while there's the bugging in your mind of an emergency call. So basically I only get about half an hour for the max, about twice a week, with an average speed of 40 kbps. Anyways I know I will get the hang of the formatting when I analyze your examples and get enough exposure. (Don't mind the good english for internet talk as its my style. I hate most shorthand) Talk to you later, got to go. I only got 15 mins. By the way, the formatting style is great and  we dont need to do anything anytime soon. Thanks. Laterz. --{{unsigned|King2}}

== TY for work on the Mighty Bomb Jack page ==

Hi Garrett. I noticed that you added the list of Pokemon mini games to the Category.  I wasn't sure if we were going to cover them or not.  I have all of them (well, most of them as cartridges, even the Japanese ones, and the rest of them as ROMs).  Do you have any of them?  Maybe we could work together on some of the guides. Let me know :)  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 09:20, 21 June 2007 (CDT)
Hey. Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you did on the Mighty Bomb Jack page. I recently discovered it while trying to make a full game map. All I came for was the images of all the rooms so I could layer them together in a GIMP project... but then I noticed that crazy shortcut from 5 to 11! Turns out it saves time in speedruns compared to warping between the Palace Rooms. It helped me recently get World Record!
:Since it's media-based that makes it a system, so I think it should definitely be covered here despite being so obscure. As for the games my experience with them is very limited, so I don't know that I could write all that much about them. I've started a rough guide for [[Pokémon Breeder]], but since I don't understand Japanese (at all) it's based entirely on trial and error. I've played several of the games but, ironically, it's the ones that are only in Japanese that interest me the most. :P [[User:Garrett|Garrett]][[User talk:Garrett|Talk]] 18:41, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

Honestly Procyon, what you said was kind of rude, and I don't really see what my age or maturity has to do with asking someone to move the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Guide out of the Sparse section! I really don't get what you mean. Am I immature just because I don't know how everything works on SW? I've only been here like one month, and I've progressed considerably since I started. == Zelda II Box ==

:I read your message, and I want to say, first of all, sorry if I came off as having a tantrum or something like that. I was just expressing my opinion about the fact that it does not belong in the sparse section. Also, you said that this was not about my knowledge of SW, but but then said that I placed my comment on the wrong page. Doesn't that have something to do with my knowledge? And as far as saying you were ''trying'' to rattle me with your comment, that isn't very mature in itself. The goal if you see someone doing something wrong is to ''politely'' tell them that they are doing something you think is wrong. Telling them they are "immature" and that "You'd be insulted if I guessed your age" is just plain rude. I would have loved it if you had politely told me that I should have posted my comment elsewhere, and that I came off as wanting everything done my way. But unfortunately this had to happen, and I frankly don't see what's changed. Lastly, saying "several other users I have talked to agree with me" sounds basically like you're saying you're talking bad about me behind my back, and that a show of force is going to change my attitude. :Ah.  Well I really like it.  For one, the base image is unpixelated so it looks like it's high quality ya know.  For some reason the colors strike me.  Then the border makes it look really good and yeah, the fairy circle you put on there is an awesome way to label things with symbols.  Shouldn't the sewer access hole be noted (or is that on another map for another section of the guide?)?  When you get around to it, you should do a map like this for the various Chris Houlihan paths people can take (I'm thinking one map, two different colored tracks like Tron to denote where to go).  --[[User:Notmyhandle|Notmyhandle]] ([[User talk:Notmyhandle|talk]] <small>•</small> [[Special:Contributions/Notmyhandle|contribs]]) 13:34, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

== Third person for ALttP ==

I know you're basing this on the Nintendo Player's Guide (which I still think is debatable) but I should point out that its writing style is completely inappropriate. How-to material is expected to be written in the present tense and use the second person in order to relate directly to the reader's ''current'' needs; using the preterite tense and third person words for how-to material keeps readers clearly distanced from the author(s), and is arguably presumptuous. The Player's Guide is also riddled with minor errors (Hyrulian instead of Hyrulean, Link's Cottage instead of Link's House, etc.) which would have to be picked out. I'd rather you rewrite this in the manner of the Pokémon RBY guide, which is worded really well and perfectly fits the expectations of how-to material. If that's your intention that's great, I just wanted you to know what I think before you go very far down the current path. == imagemapping each room ==

yeah, that would be doable, it would just be a bit of a pain. If you want to see what the wikicode looks like for that, check out [http://strategywiki.org/w/index.php?title=The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time/Maps/Overworld&action=edit this page]. Well, sort of similar. What I would do is make the room labels jump to that particular room and have the rest go to the larger map, so I would be using rect instead of poly. Unless, of course, you have a different idea of how it should all be linked. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 10:25, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
:Half of my reply on this page, and half on my talk page... I need to get a bit more with it today. Anyways, you need to make the room numbers H4s or H5s instead of bolded text. The imagemapping won't jump to them otherwise. To prevent all that stuff from making the ToC too large, just do the following: <nowiki><div class="toclimit-3">__TOC__</div></nowiki>. That'll prevent anything less than an H3 from appearing on the ToC. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 10:35, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
::nvm, I guess you don't have a ToC :P. Regardless, now you know how to restrict them. Oh, and a big help would be if you could figure out the co-ordinates of the top-left and bottom-right points of those labels, as I need to know that in order to imagemap them. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 10:38, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
:::They need to be headings because I was thinking of linking the labels to that section , so its kind of like an image ToC instead of a text ToC. You click on 1F and it takes you to the strategy for room 1F. However, I would like to know how large the boxes are generally (width and height in pixels) of the original image (the one on the image page), I can find out the coordinates by myself, but if I know how large they are, it saves me a lot of work. Here's how I was planning on doing the code:
<pre>
          <imagemap>
          Image:the shown image.png|thumb|some sizepx|right|Floor whatever (click image to enlarge, click label to go to that room's strategy)
          rect a1 b1 a2 b2 [[Page#Room number|Room number]]
          rect c1 d1 c2 d2 [[Page#Room number|Room number]]
          ...
          default [[Image:larger version of image.png|Click to enlarge]]
          desc none

== Main Page DPLs ==

I put the refresh link there because I enabled the parser cache for the DPLs on the Main Page (aka, it takes results from the cache wherever it can so it reduces server load). The refresh link purged the page for people that wanted more accurate results, as the data is now mostly cached. I've also implemented the caching option on {{tl|system}}, so the majority of our DPLs now use the cache (which should reduce server load immensely). Granted, the refresh link could be smaller and less easily noticeable, but it probably should be there. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 22:15, 17 August 2007 (CDT)

:::Converting to PNG is easy enough; I have Adobe PhotoShop on my desktop box. Unfortunately, the caps are 160x144 - that's awfully small, but there's nothing to be done about it, I think. VBA caps as PNG, but they're the same size.
:::Re: maps. Do you want me to recapture the maps at full size, or can I go ahead and use the ones I shrank? It's not a big deal to recapture them, if you'd prefer. Also, I think there are subtle differences between the maps of Kanto in GSC and the original maps in RBY; should I recapture all the Kanto maps on the Gold ROM, or just use the ones that were already uploaded for RBY?
:::Having someone else to work with on a project like this makes it much more fun, and much easier. I don't IRC anymore, but I can be found on AIM and Yahoo Messenger with the same UserID I used here. I'm also on MSN, but since that's an email addy, I prefer not to share it. --<span style="background-color: #bbbbff;">[[User:DrGaellon|DrGaellon]] <span style="font-size: smaller;">([[User talk:DrGaellon|talk]] | [[Special:Contributions/DrGaellon|contribs]])</span></span> 21:02, 21 August 2007 (CDT)
::::I was able to expand the screen caps in APS to 320x288 with no blur, so that's good. The Kanto maps are all B&W, and there are some differences, so I recapped all the Kanto maps in color off the Gold ROM. Is there a resource where I can find small images of the various sprites (people, berry trees, Poké balls, etc) to drop onto the maps as part of the walkthrough? (I think the Gym maps look much better if you can see where the trainers are on the map, for instance.) Is there a way to bulk-upload these (like FTP) or do I have to upload them one by one? --<span style="background-color: #bbbbff;">[[User:DrGaellon|DrGaellon]] <span style="font-size: smaller;">([[User talk:DrGaellon|talk]] | [[Special:Contributions/DrGaellon|contribs]])</span></span> 10:59, 22 August 2007 (CDT)

I am neither GiMP-skilled enough nor artistically skilled enough to clean up this image. It's blurry, a bit out of focus and rather washed-out in color compared to the other sprites we have. There is no usable sprite of him on that resource you sent me to. Can you, or one of the other techies and/or artsy-types, clean him up a bit? --<span style="background-color: #bbbbff;">[[User:DrGaellon|DrGaellon]] <span style="font-size: smaller;">([[User talk:DrGaellon|talk]] | [[Special:Contributions/DrGaellon|contribs]])</span></span> 16:26, 25 August 2007 (CDT)

Sourcing[edit]

I'm looking to convert a lot of screenshots and you're responsible for a lot of em. Do you remember if you captured any of the screenshots below? If not, remember where they came from? I would share more, but can only generate 500 at a time!

Much thanks! Trig - 06:20, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Trig Jegman (talk · contribs). Procyon 03:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Maybe to put this another way, are there any significant examples you can think of where you didn't self capture them? Trig - 04:17, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the Thanks[edit]

Hey Procyon,

No problem! After I finish the RSE guide, I'm going to apply the new templates me and Prod made to the FRLG pages too - Hopefully, it'll decrease the file size for them. Then I'll probably check out the other Pokémon guides to see what they're like, and maybe go onto a different franchise. Pakuchi -- Someone! Anyone! Respond! 13:54, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

I need some guidance[edit]

Here are some samples of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRzhucERGqE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7X_VzuQG14

The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through

Explaining these missions "down to the bone" as in referring to where would enemies come in, come out, and all that, just feels like unnecessary information and nobody would basically read it, a good example of a game just like this is Sky Force Reloaded, a game I have also nearly mastered a few months ago, I even have my runs in this game uploaded in my YouTube account and I can provide a sample, and just like these 2 games, Sky Force Reloaded also has the same kind of level, basically real time, it has predictable pacing but the levels are way too complex to be torn apart into text + picture form, if you want to recognize the levels of this game you would rather want to just do a trial and error, train your mind memory and muscle memory until you recognize where will enemies appear since enemy positions and appearances don't change, only drops do.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience Procyon, I have mentioned you on Discord about this but it seems that you are already not active in there, thank you. Stormshadow429 (talk) 07:24, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up[edit]

Yo, I just wanted to say thanks for the heads up on {{wip}}. I'll use it when in the middle of major edits from now on. Pakuchi -- Someone! Anyone! Respond! 13:14, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Make Betterer[edit]

Couldn't Castle Excellent/Walkthrough use template:scrolling map for its page now? Having that giant sprite doesn't seem like it is very helpful. Trig - 21:12, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I didn't realize that the file name was repurposed. I went ahead and fixed it without the scrolling map part. Not sure scrolling map would be very effective there, especially considering it's in a spoiler collapse. Could be a good idea, I'm not sure. Procyon 00:51, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Regardless, better have a usable map than a not-usable map. Thanks for the change. Trig - 02:12, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Hi i was wondering, would you prefer when writing an article (e.g. enemies guide), if i had to make a quick change and I didn’t have the time to go through an entire thing at once, would you prefer me to initially either list them as headers that are empty underneath or list them in dots points (in case) and then expand on them when i have the chance? Thank you Sclera1 (talk) 06:28, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Kikai[edit]

Couldn't see what the page contained but I found some things that *might* have been the game?

Maybe this helps find if this was a legitimate game or not. Worst to worst, maybe we don't have one of these games and it can be added instead. Trig - 02:24, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

I appreciate you digging in to see if there was any real world examples of a game named Kikai. None of these seem to relate to the content that the user added, so it's difficult to determine whether the user's content was based on a real game in development, or more of a fantasy wish-list game. I'm not going to worry much about it though. Procyon 17:45, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

TY for work on the Mighty Bomb Jack page[edit]

I was hoping you could tell me where you found that trick. Seems crazy to think someone could discover it by accident. Did you do a code disassembly or was it in some sort of Nintendo Power or old school strategy guide? SpaceColonizer (talk) 19:33, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

That information was sourced from a Japanese guide. I don't recall which one, it was a long time ago. Procyon 00:55, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Mother 1+2 Box[edit]

Thanks for bringing the file size to my attention. Do you think I could compress the existing file? I can't find any other good scans for the Mother 1+2 box online. Thanks for your time. GamingBound (talk) 19:46, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Magazine pages[edit]

Thanks for letting me know about the magazine scans. I will delete them shortly. (Edit: Actually, I can't delete them. I'll leave that up to you. Here are the pages I provided magazine pics to: Zelda, Zelda II, Mega Man 2, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, R.C. Pro-Am, Track and Field II, TMNT, and Castlevania II.)GamingBound (talk) 21:39, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Zelda II Box[edit]

Hello! Could you please find a way to fix the file for the Zelda II: The Adventure of Link box? I am not sure of how to properly downscale it so its file size isn't so big. Thank you. GamingBound (talk) 00:08, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Bye Bye![edit]

Hey....sorry about the callousness for my last message. I felt very frustrated and irritant at the time, so forgive the snarky-ness inherent in the message. I thank you for taking the time to respond to my queries, and I truly respect and appreciate everything you guys do here on this wiki (despite what my desires for it were). I hope we can part (and possibly meet again if I come back) on good terms. All my thanks, GamingBound (talk) 19:54, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
