Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn is the second computer role-playing game in the Baldur's Gate series, taking place just a few months after the events of Baldur's Gate. The game system is based on the rules of the famous Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) pen and paper system, set in the equally popular Forgotten Realms campaign setting.
The game was programmed using the Infinity Engine, which was used in the Icewind Dale series and Planescape: Torment.
The expansion pack Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal was released in 2001.
