Capcom is the developer and publisher behind such series as Street Fighter, Mega Man and Resident Evil.
Founded in 1983, Capcom soon rose to become one of the most prolific makers of games in the industry. Starting in 1985, they began releasing games for the NES, including such classics as 1942, Ghosts'n Goblins, Bionic Commando, and, most notably, the Mega Man series, which proved to be Capcom's first major franchise. Later, during the fourth generation of games, Capcom became better known for their Street Fighter series of fighting games, which revolutionized the genre thanks to the use of diverse rosters of characters, each with their own unique move-sets. In 1996, the Resident Evil franchise joined Capcom's ever-growing list of major IP's, bringing the horror-survival genre to the masses.
In the twenty-first century, Capcom has split its attention on old and new series. Popular newer series have included Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and Monster Hunter.
