Scorpion

The Scorpion.

It is a slow-moving all-terrain tank. It has three weapons. The main one is the tank's turret: this fires an explosive round that does major damage, and works well against Banshees, Warthogs and other Scorpions, but it should not be used for any other Covenant. The second gun is the machine gun mounted on the right of the tank. Use this for smaller targets, and in-between reloading turret rounds. The third are the treads. They basically run over everything, but don't use them as a primary weapon as the tank moves very slowly. If you stop and let Marines get on, they will shoot at everything at which they can aim. All weapons on the Scorpion have unlimited ammunition. In Halo 2 the Scorpion has been re-designed making the cockpit protected, making it harder to snipe the enemy out of the Scorpion.

Glitches

In the Blood Gulch level with two tanks, there is a very entertaining glitch. You flip over one tank by driving it up the wall then jump out of it. It might take a few tries. One this is done, you take the other tank, and drive up over the flipped tank. You should now have one tank on top of the other. Now that this is done, either you, or a friend flips over the lower tank. The tank on top is launched all the way to the other end of the map.

Warthog

The Warthog is a generic term for a lineage of United Nations Space Command ground vehicles. It is affectionately known as the 'Hog by UNSC soldiers. There are two types of Warthogs in Halo 2, Normal and Gauss.

M12 Warthog LRV (Normal)

The M12 Warthog LRV (Light Reconnaissance Vehicle) is the most common type of Warthog. It mounts an M41 Light Anti-Aircraft Gun. It can hold 1 Driver, 1 Passenger, and 1 Gunner.

M12G1 Warthog LAAV (Gauss)

The M12G1 Warthog LAAV mounts an M68 Gauss Cannon, unlike the LRV. This makes it more powerful, but doesn't have as rapid fire. It holds 1 Driver, 1 Passenger, and 1 Gunner.

Banshee

A Banshee.

In Halo 2, the Banshee's controls are much less realistic than they were in Halo: Combat Evolved (which operated like an airplane). However, it is much easier to aim and navigate in Halo 2. The Banshee has two plasma guns mounted on its nose which fire at about the same rate as a Plasma Rifle. While firing the Banshee, speed is temporarily limited. Ordinarily, the vehicle is very slow and a very easy target to Rocket Launcher fire, but the Banshee also come equipped with two thrusting mechanisms, one on each wing. When activated, the Banshee's speed doubles, but turning and aiming becomes more difficult. The biggest drawback to the thrusters is the fact that the plasma turrets cannot be fired while boosting. The thrusters can also be used for barrel roll moves, which makes the vehicle capable of rolling upside down from side-to-side, and elevate higher.

Ghost

The Ghost is the Covenant's standard reconnaissance and rapid attack vehicle. It is equipped with two of what are now accepted as the standard light vehicle mounted weapons: a directed energy weapon capable of projecting a bolt of super-heated plasma in the 100-250 kW range.

Wraith

The Wraith

The Wraith is the standard tank vehicle for the Covenant. During campaign missions, it is impossible to enter one, oddly enough. It can fire long-ranged plasma rocket-type things which has a pretty decent kill radius. To take one out, whip out your Rocket Launcher and fire a couple shots at it. Or, if you don't have one, get in a Banshee or Ghost and start firing madly at it. Or, if you are in a WArthog you can take one out easily by going fast, getting air, and landing on top of it (Only tested in Story Mode).

Or, if you are close enough, jump onto the tank, and it will tell you to melee the hatch open, then place a grenade in it to blow the driver out. After that, you basically own the vehicle, provided that no other Covenant is in the area to retake it.

Spectre

The Spectre.

The Spectre is a Covenant ground vehicle. Multi-troop armored transport is small and highly manueverable and while slow, can easily move while in confined spaces. Main weaknesses are slow acceleration and speed, and that occupants are fairly exposed. Rear-mounted plasma cannon is dangerous, and gives multiple firing positions.

Turrets

This section is a stub. Help us expand it, and you get a cookie.

M247 GP Machine Gun (Human)

A Spartan firing a turret.

The M247 is a general purpose machine gun that is normally seen as a stationary gun emplacement usually placed near defensive positions surrounding bases and fortifications. Capable of spewing out an incredible number of .30 cal rounds, the M247 turret makes quick work of anything foolish enough to get in its path.

Plasma Cannon (Covenant)

Plasma Cannon and Shielded Plasma Cannon: A single-barreled gun turret, carried by infantry and set up at strategic points. Usually used by grunts and is much like the cannon found on Ghosts and Banshees. Mainly used for assault purposes as it is found on the Cairo Station and on New Mombasa during the Covenant attack, but not usually found on Forerunner Installations or High Charity.
