Super Mushroom
The Super Mushroom, as seen in almost every mario game to date. It moves along the ground and will fall in any gaps in the ground. If you grab it while you're short, it will make you grow, and you will be able to get other power-ups from Question Mark Blocks. If you already have a different power-up, it will just get you 1,000 or 200 points.
1-Up Mushroom
This classic and rare item gives you an extra live. It can be obtain from bricks or by collecting 100 coins. Also, red coin rings give you 1-Ups.
Ice Flower
The Ice Flower is an item that allows you to freeze enimies with balls of ice, similar to the Fire Flower. However, when you hit an enemy it will freeze into a block of ice, allowing you to smash it, pick it up and slide it on the ground, or use it as a stepping stone in water or even midair.
Fire Flower
The Fire Flower is a power-up that lets you throw fireballs, and has been in many of the games in the Mario series. When a fireball hits an enemy, it will be killed just like if you stomped it. These work well againt Pirahna Plants and enemies with shells.
Propeller Mushroom
The Propeller Mushroom is a new addition to the Mario series. When you grab it, you can 
to launch into the air, and on your way down you can either press 
to drill down and take out enemies in your path, or press 
to glide down, allowing you more distance to clear large gaps.
Penguin Suit
The Penguin suit is a new addition to the Mario series. With it, you can shoot ice balls from your flippers, swim much faster in water than normal, not slip on the ice, and slide along the ground taking out enemies.
Mini Mushroom
The Mini Mushroom is a power-up added to the series in New Super Mario Bros. It makes you become smaller, allowing you to jump on enemies heads without killing them, jump higher and get more hang time, or to access otherwise too small pipes.
Super Star
The Super Star is a very rare power-up. With it you become rainbow and invincible, and can barrel through most enemies in your path. The only way to die while using this is to fall down a gap or into lava, you can't be killed by enemies. However, it only last for a short time.
Pow Block
When you throw it, it will make everything fall to the ground and it destroys any enemies. It is one time use only.
Glow Block
Brand new to the Mario series, it does nothing but have a bright light so you can see better.
Propeller Block
Also brand new, this item is much like Propeller Mushroom, except you can lose it anytime.
