North Bridge[edit]
With Teim in tow, head now for the North Bridge, located north of Paseo. When you enter it, Darum will demand money. Teim, still in disguise, will refuse, causing Darum to slay her in anger. Teim's disguise will fall off and Darum will realize what he's done, proceeding to end his life in despair. After this sad event occurs, you will be free to pass through the bridge to the western portion of Mota.
Head west a bit until you cross a bridge, then head south until you discover another bridge heading back to the east. Cross over it and pass between the woods to discover the next town, Oputa.

You will find many new items at the armorer's shop and the protective gear store in Oputa. You will be better protected by the items you acquire in this town. The other important matter here is Ustvestia's home, which is located in the north west corner of town apart from the rest of the buildings.
Ustvestia will ask you many questions. Answer his questions well, and he will tell you about the Musik technique. You need money to learn this technique. The price is different for males and females. You will discover the purpose of learning the Musik technique later on in your adventure. Just make sure you do not choose Rudo to learn this technique. Even the Musik technique requires 3 TP to use it. Since Rudo never gains any TP as he levels up, the technique (and your money) will be wasted on him.
At this point in the game, Nei, who gains levels nearly twice as fast a Rolf, should be getting considerably stronger. And the equipment that you can buy in Oputa can change her from your weakest asset, to a fighting powerhouse. Be sure to purchase and equip her with two Ceramic Bars. Picking up a Fiber Vest will also make her more resilient to damaging attacks.
Amy Sage[edit]
Your a short distance from the Biosystem Lab, but before you head there, it is important to you return to your hom in Paseo. Either walk back there or pay to use the Teleport Station. Upon entering your house, you will meet Amy Sage, your fourth companion. Amy is a medical doctor and knows techniques that can restore your physical strength. Far from a great combatant, her worth is in her ability to keep your party alive in difficult dungeons.
Unfortunately, as your new companion, she begins the game at Level 1. If you attempt to bring her along with you to the Biosystems Lab, it is almost certain that she will be killed by a single attack from a strong enemy. To truly prepare Amy for the Labs, you should return to Oputa, buy her a second scalpel to wield, as well as a Fiber Cape and Fiber Gear for better protection. Then work on increasing her level. The closer you can get her to level 8 or 9, the better chance she stands of surviving the Lab. The best place to grind for experience is just to the west of Oputa.
Biosystems Lab[edit]
The Biosystems Lab is found to the south of Oputa, though you have to wind your way to the west and then back to the east to reach it. If you attempt to take the tunnel south, you will hit a dead-end in the form of a door that can't be blown open with Dynamite.
The Lab has three levels above ground as well as a basement level. The Recorder you are tasked with finding is found on the basement level. Hopefully you still have the second stick of Dynamite that you collected from Shure, as you need it to gain access to the Lab.
Floor 1[edit]
The passage on the first level of the Biosystems Lab divides to the left and right at the entrance. The right passage is a dead-end, so turn left. There are no chests on the first level. There are three chutes to the second level. To start, aim for the one at the very top of the map.
Floor 2[edit]
Item | Notes | |
---|---|---|
1 | Antidote | Cures poison |
2 | Scalpel | Amy Hugh Attack +7 |
3 | Star Mist | Heals all HP for entire party |
Your path to the first basement is detemined by the chute you choose. Follow the map carefully. The second floor is more complicated than the first. When you first arrive on the second floor, you should carefully consider which of the holes in the floor might be worth falling through. You should initially aim to reach the third floor through the chute on the right side of the second floor. In order to reach it, you'll need to access the right side of the first level. While there are a few items to collect on this floor, none of them are two special. If you didn't purchase a second Scalpel for Amy already, you can find one here. However, there is a rare Star Mist on the left side of this floor. Save them for special occasions, as they can restore the health of every member in your party when you use them, but only once.
Floor 3[edit]
Item | Notes | |
---|---|---|
1 | Dynamite | Key item |
You will suffer from the attack of strong enemies if your companions come to the third floor with weak bodies. Blaster and Jelly will make your friends sleep or attack you vigorously. Your goal is to access the basement level by falling through the hole in center of the third floor. First, however, you must obtain another stick of Dynamite from the container found in the southern portion of the floor, in order to blast a hole through the door that locks you out of the center area.
Basement 1[edit]
Item | Notes | |
---|---|---|
1 | Trimate | Heals all HP |
2 | Poison Shot | Amy Hugh Attack + 15 |
3 | Antidote | Cures Poison |
A Damage Zone is located in the basement level. Proceed carefully when walking through this floor, and minimize the extent that you walk over health sapping damage tiles. Powerful enemies await. You should carry Monomate and Dimate to recover your strength in case Amy and Nei run out of Tech Points. There are just a few useful chests in the basement. In particular, you can find the Poison Shot, a good gun weapon to replace one of Amy's Scalpels and give her a bit more attack power, in the lower right corner. After obtaining the Recorder from the upper right quadrant, you can escape through a chute in the lower left quadrant that drops you off by a secluded exit on the first floor, or you can simply use an Escapipe or case Hinas if you prefer.
