Revision as of 01:53, 11 December 2008

You go to the trail unlike all of the other ones: From here on, only Ema can help you, as there won't be a Fey to help you out... or will there?

Day Two: Court Mode

Edgeworth calls Angel Starr to the stand. Usually they call a detective, but according to Edgeworth, Angel was until two years ago, a "first-class" homicidal detective. Angel proceeds with describing the crime.

  • The parking lot at the Prosecutor's office is divided into two blocks
  • A Block is for the Prosecutor's Office personal,
  • B Block is for visitors and clients.
  • A chain divider separates the two blocks.
  • I suppose that's to keep visitors from taking up prosecutor's parking spaces, yes.
  • The crime took place by a car in the back of A block, in the car's trunk.
  • The killer stabbed the victim with a knife and went to drive the body out.

The Floor Plans will be added to the Court Record. Angel says to have witness the very moment of the crime things are looking grim for you already.

Angel's Testimony: "Witness's Account"

Angel
Angel
Angel's Testimony
- Witness's Account -
  1. Somehow, I knew a day like this would come.
  2. I was on my way to deliver a lunchbox to my boyfriend...
  3. When I sensed something... perhaps it was my finely-honed detective instincts working.
  4. Then, through a wire fence, I saw the chief prosecutor standing next to a garish car.
  5. The chief prosecutor was holding a knife in her right hand....
  6. Then, she thrust the pointy tip of the knife into Detective Goodman's chest!

Witness's Account: Cross Examination

Press Angel's 1st, 2nd, and 4th statement. Angel tells you that the reason she hates prosecutors is because they fired her. Angel was at the security booth just above the scene, and claims to have seen the car and the crime from thirty feet away. Angel then presents a photograph of the crime, well just after the crime, showing a person that is certainly Lana. The Crime Photo will be added to your court record.

Present the Crime Photo on Angel's 5th statement. It doesn't look like she was holding a knife. However, Edgeworth objects, saying Angel took the photo after the crime, because blood was already splattered. Edgeworth sees no problem in this. You have a choice to object, or accept. Choose Objection. Didn't Angel say she took the picture at the moment of the murder? She takes takes it lightly however and admits she is a little off. Angel then says Lana committed the murder in a premeditated way, because, according to the photo, Lana was wearing gloves, because the crime wouldn't be premeditated without them. The Judge then demands Angel to add that into her testimony.

  • The murder was planned! The rubber gloves prove it!

Present Edgeworth's Knife to that statement. Phoenix proves that both the knife, and the car, were both Edgeworth's, not only that, but Lana didn't prepare the most important thing, the murder weapon. Why would she just put it in the trunk? She could have ran with it when she got the chance. Finally, Angel freaks. Edgeworth, however, reminds you that the murder was planned. He then makes Angel testify her deduction.

Angel's Testimony: "Angel's Deduction"

Angel
Angel
Angel's Testimony
- Angel's Deduction -
  1. Lana Skye intended to murder Detective Goodman!
  2. That's why she called the victim all the way to the Prosecutor's Office.
  3. I'm sure the Chief Prosecutor had a grudge against the victim.
  4. Nothing else could drive that human machine to plunge that knife in again and again...

Angel's Deduction: Cross Examination

Present Goodman's Autopsy Report to Angel's 4th statement. It says that Goodman was stabbed once. Angel thought that Lana stabbed Goodman more than once, because there was already blood on her. The judge has Angel add it to her testimony.

  • Her red muffler looked like blood to me... that's how ghastly the whole scene was.

Present the Crime Photo to that statement. Edgeworth states that according to the photo, Lana wasn't wearing a muffler. Angel swore she saw something red. The judge has Angel testify her mistake. Finally you're making progress.

Angel's Testimony: "Apprehending the Suspect"

Angel
Angel
Angel's Testimony
- Apprehending the Suspect -
  1. After the murder, the suspect attempted to run behind a partition off to her side.
  2. I quickly caught her, explained her rights to her, and arrested her on the spot.
  3. Ah yes, When I arrested her, she mentioned the muffler.
  4. That's what had me confused in my earlier testimony!
  5. The chief prosecutor made to escape, but against Angel Starr, resistance is futile!

As Angel and Lana were struggling, Lana knocked over an oil drum. You begin the cross-examination.

Apprehending the Suspect: Cross-examination

Press Angel's 2nd statement. Angel says she was 30 feet away from her before Lana was arrested. Press her further. Angel earlier claims to have witnessed the accident at Block B. There was a chain fence that blocks Angel from the crime scene. Angel says she climbed over the 9-foot fence to get to Lana. How would she do that with so little time?

Press on Angel's 3rd statement. Angel heard Lana say the word "muffler" on her phone. Ask further. Lana attempted to use the emergency phone at first, but it was out of order. The Cell Phone is updated in the Court Record. Angel adds a testimony about the emergency phone.

  • She gave up trying to use the phone on the wall and just used her cell phone!

Present the Parking Lot Floor Plans to that statement. If Angel had witnessed the crime from where she claims she was at, she would not have seen Lana use the phone, because of the partition that was in the way. Angel has to be lying. Edgeworth wants to know what she is lying about. Say, "Where she saw it". If Angel saw Lana use the phone, she might have saw it in a different location. The Judge wants to know where. You examine the Parking Lot Floor Plans. Present where its labeled Security Room. Earlier Angel said that she was selling one of her lunches to one of her "boyfriends" in the Security Room. That's probably when she saw the crime.

Ema then notices something odd. Why would Angel lie? Edgeworth presents the Crime Photo to remind you that Angel took the picture from Block B. The Judge wants to know about what Angel is lying about and chooses Phoenix to do so. Ema then recalls what we know so far. Angel says that she saw the crime from the security office, but she lied about seeing it from Block B. Phoenix wonders what would change by that. Choose the Distance to the crime. Though the security room was also about 30 feet away from the crime, what matter is how long did it take to reach the suspect. It took Angel five minutes to reach there. Raise an objection at this point. If it took five minutes for Angel to reach the crime, Lana would have a chance to run. Looks like you caught her lies red-handed.

The Judge tries to adjourn court, but Angel persists, as she has decisive evidence. The Judge, with some temptation from Angel, has her testify to the evidence.

Angel's Testimony: "Decisive Evidence"

Angel
Angel
Angel's Testimony
- Decisive Evidence -
  1. I should have mention those five minutes when I wasn't looking at the crime scene.
  2. And now, to the matter to the victim's shoe... Did I not bring this up...?
  3. Two types of blood were found on this shoe!
  4. One was of course the victim's.
  5. And the other was...! The defendant, Ms. Lana Skye's blood!
  6. This shoe proves it! It's flawless, decisive evidence!

The reason Angel didn't present it at first is that she doesn't trust Edgeworth, who refuses to present it as evidence. Angel says that just today, behind Edgeworth's back, she took the evidence to forensics for blood testing, and afterwards had permission from the police department. The Victim's Shoe is added to the Court Record. You now start cross-examining.

Decisive Evidence: Cross-Examination

Press Angel's 6th statement. Ema want's to know if there is a problem. Say There's a problem. You automatically Check the shoe. Rotate so you see the bottom. There is blood there, Present it. Edgeworth wants you to show the contradictory. Present the Crime Photo. If there was blood, then why weren't there any footprints? Edgeworth then reminds you what Angel said about apprehending the suspect. Lana knocked over an oil drum during the struggle. The oil drum was actually full with water, so Lana used it to wash away the footprints. This proves that Lana tried to hide the evidence. Just by that, The Judge decides to declare the verdict. You don't know what to do, and Ema says that Angel may be working on the prosecutor's side. Angel hears this and presents another photo of the crime, the body itself in the trunk of the car (you also see the car's asphalt, which is wet for some reason, and something is in it). Showing that the shoe was indeed the victim's, thus erasing all doubt to the court.

Now you and Ema have nothing left to save Lana... or have you? You hear a voice, Mia's voice, telling you to look closer to the wet asphalt in the photo. Phoenix stops the court's verdict and present's the photo. You automatically examine the photo. Present the asphalt (just right of the body's hanging leg). Edgeworth say there is something poking out of the car's "muffler". Does "muffler" sound familiar? When given the chance, present Lana's Cell Phone Earlier, Angel testifies that Lana mentioned "muffler" in her very brief phone call. She could refer to the car's "muffler". Finally you give The Judge a reason to continue the case. He calls a half an hour recess.

Recess

At the Defendant's Lobby, you'll have a visitor, Jake Marshall. You learn from him that Lana was indeed wearing a muffler (scarf) that day.

The Judge resumes the court. You look at Edgeworth looking somewhat shocked saying "it can't be...". You then see someone you haven't seen take the stand. Who, after some chatter, is revealed to the the district Chief of Police, Damon Gant, who shows you Lana's muffler, which Gant says to be found in "Worthy's" (Edgeworth's) car's muffler. Gant also shows you a switchblade knife. Edgeworth scolds Gant for not bringing this up, but Gant reminds Edgeworth that he is responsible for the investigation, he accepts it with his "head in the clouds" from the award that he that. The Judge accepts the knife as evidence, but wants you to Check it first.

Examine the switch (near the larger end, in one of the handle's sides), and the blade will open. You'll find something shocking, the tip of the blade is broken and it looks like there's blood on the edge. The Switchblade Knife will be added to the Court Record. At Edgeworth's request, The Judge has Gant testify about the disorder.

Gant's Testimony: "Department in Disorder"

Gant
Gant
Gant's Testimony
- Department in Disorder -
  1. This knife is special... but I can't say how here.
  2. Unless there's evidence to prove a connection between this knife and Goodman...
  3. That was a bad day for the department. We weren't in any shape to do an investigation.
  4. A detective was killed at the Police Department, see... what a mess!
  5. The time of the crime? 5:15, Scary coincidence, eh?
  6. It's not officially linked to this case, so I can't talk much about it.

Scary coincidence indeed, 5:15 is the exact same time when Goodman was killed, and that the the one that was killed at the police department was a detective!

Department in Disorder: Cross-Examination

If you Check the tag on the Switchblade Knife, It reads SL-9, but if you turn it upside-down, it reads "6-7S"! Look familiar? Present the Victim's Note to Gant's 2nd statement. It's vise versa with the note! Gant adds this to his testimony.

  • This knife was evidence in a case. It was stolen from the Department's evidence room.

Press on that statement. The knife was from a case long-solved. Press Gant's 4th statement. Who killed that detective? Gant says they arrested the suspect just now. Gant allows you to ask one question. You have a choice, ask Where the victim was found. Gant can't say, but he does tell you the murder took place in the evidence room. That's where he says the broken knife was stolen from!

Press Gant's 6th statement. It's already proven that the two cases were indeed connected. Gant decides that he should give imformation, unofficially.

  • I'll cooperate, but I can't reveal the name of the victim in the Department, okay?

Press on that statement. Gant decides you can ask him a question for a hint. Ask about The victim's ID number. Gant reveals the ID number, #5842189. Is this familiar to you? You have a choice, choose This tells me something. Present Goodman's ID, but look at the description first, it says the number is #5842189! If that's true, then Goodman himself might have been killed at the police department, but Angel saw Lana stab him in the Prosecutor's Office. Does this mean that Goodman was killed at different places at the same time? Edgeworth asks Gant why he didn't know this already. Gant tells him he should know by now, thanks to Officer Meekins, whom yesterday Edgeworth rejected, because he thought the case would be unimportant. Gant tells Edgeworth that it's his fault for not knowing the connection in the first place, and "Wrighto" (Phoenix) had to prove it. Edgeworth apologizes for the confusion and asks for one more day of investigation. The Judge permits and adjourns court for today.

Day Two: Investigation Mode

Underground Parking Lot

You start at the Underground Parking Lot. After recalling the oil drum, she introduces you to Luminol testing fluid. A substance that can trace blood that is washed away. However you can only see it with Ema's glasses. She wants you to test it out.

Finding Blood Traces
Highlight the Luminol Testing Fluid and Spray it .Once the bottom screen turns red (or once you're viewing from Ema's glasses), spray anywhere on the screen until you see something turn blue. That blue glow is blood traces. Once exposed, the screen will focus on it.

Spray on the floor just left of the car, and you'll see a bloodstain. Ema notices something strange about it. Say The amount of blood. If Lana and Goodman were fighting, wouldn't there be more blood on the floor? Looks like a clue. Ema will mark the bloodstain on the map. The Luminol could be a useful tool for this case, but before you can continue, you face Angel, who just now heard everything. Talk to Angel:

Today's trial: Angel confessed that she could be lying a little, but she swore that she saw Lana stab Goodman.

Detective Starr: Angel was once a detective who had every criminal "Cough it up" (confess) and was since known as the Cough-Up Queen. But one day, Angel was fired, because of a case known as the "SL-9 Incident". SL-9? Present the Victim's Note. It says SL-9 on it! Angel reveals that Goodman was the head detective of the SL-9 Case. She somehow knew that this case was connected. Present Goodman's ID. Angel, until two years ago, had one of these. She doesn't believe that Goodman was also killed at the Evidence Room. Present the Parking Lot Floor Plans. Angel seems pretty angry about the holes in her testimony.

SL-9 Incident:. Angel was involved in a large case. The investigators were very desperate for answers, but they solved the case cleanly. The criminal was caught, and was executed. However, they didn't find any decisive evidence, as the evidence itself was fabricated. Several months afterwords, the investigators were promoted to patrolman, while others were fired. Angel was one of the fired ones, and Jake Marshall was one of the promoted ones.

Detective Marshall:Since the current case happened, Angel knew that this case will end it all. She gives you a Steak Lunch to give to someone that might help. It will be added to the Court Record. Ema mentions that when Jake Marshall was still a detective, he was very nice to Lana. But now he is very cold to her. You should take it to Marshall. Move to the PoliceDept.Entrance.

Police Department Entrance

The detectives are everywhere, as one did get killed. Ema is very excited to see an actual crime scene. Move to the Security Guard Office.

Security Guard Office

You'll see a wild western themed room, and the entrance to the Evidence Room. Examine the door. It's locked, you probably need someone's permission first. Move back to the PoliceDept.Entrance

Police Department Entrance (2)

There, you'll meet Gumshoe. Who tells you that you should talk to the defendant of the Evidence room stabbing. Move to the Detection Center. Accessible from the Wright & Co. Offices.

Detention Center

You'll meet someone unexpected for a perpetrator, Officer Meekins. Talk to Meekins:

The day of the crime: He was at the Security Office just earlier today. He went to the evidence room, where he was knocked out. He came to at the Center. Ema asks about Meekins' bandaged hand. Just like Lana's.

Bandaged Hand: Meekins says a detective attacked him, and he fought back. Meekins was then knocked unconscious. When he came to, there was blood on his hands. Meekins didn't really know Goodman, or the other detectives. Present Goodman's ID. It will jog Meekins' memory.

Crime details: He saw Goodman, but he didn't recognize him, so he asked for his ID number. Goodman suddenly attacked. Meekins was knocked out, and woke at the Detention Center. Ema recalls the events, Meekins meets a man that he didn't know, and that man didn't show his card, so you don't know if that was Goodman or not.

Reason for arrest: Meekins then explains that a video tape caught the act and that's how Meekins was arrested for "his" crime.

Looks like you'll need to investigate the scene further. Move to the Criminal Affairs Dept.

Criminal Affairs Department

There, you'll see Chief Gant, who is informed that the detectives searched the scene and found nothing. Gant then notices you. Talk to Gant:

Edgeworth: Since you found Manfred von Karma guilty (if you recall last case) Edgeworth is in a bit of a pickle.

Evident Incident: He can't say anything about the coincidence about the two locations Goodman was stabbed in. After talking, Examine the chief detective (the guy sitting at the desk). He tells you that Gant told him to check Goodman's desk. They found noting, except for a lost item list, which is half complete, with the date February, 21. Goodman's Lost Item Report will be added to your Court Record. You need to investigate the Evidence Room, but you need Gant's permission. Talk to Gant to get your Permission granted. Gant will then leave.

Move back to the Security Guard Office.

Security Guard Office (2)

Examine the Entrance. You used the card. It still didn't open, as the card reader is off. The security guard turned it off. You then meet the security guard, Jake Marshall, who lets you in. You need to ask him something, but he won't talk, until you Present the Steak Lunch to him. The Steak Luch will be removed from the Court Records. Talk to Marshall:

Marshall: Marshall once dreamed of being a "rawhide wangler on the scene of the crime". But now it's vanished thanks to the SL-9 case, which Marshall says it's evidence transferals is now dead two days ago.

Security Office: Meekins said Marshall wasn't in his office at the time of the murder. Marshall says he was "galloping down the highway on the back of (his) steed, Zippy". Marshall doesn't really like machines, like the security cameras. If nothing happens, then they erase the tape every few hours. Meekins and Goodman may be in one of those tapes. Marshall then shows you a record of the card reader from the day of the murder. You see a familiar ID number on it, but Marshall takes the list away before you can look further.

Transferral: Two years after the crime is solved, the case would be dead forever.

Present Goodman's ID to Marshall. Marshall will sow you the ID records again. Goodman used his ID card to open the entrance 1 minute before the stabbing! Why did Goodman pointed the knife at Meekins rather than presenting his ID card? Marshall then gives you the ID Card Record, which will be added into the Court Record. Finally, Move to the Evidence Room.

Evidence Room

In there, you'll unexpectedly find Gumshoe, who is in charge of the investigation for today. Now he put's you in charge (After hearing Gant saying he'd loan $50 to a person who asks). He gives you the Evidence Room Floor Plans, which will be added to the Court Record. Talk to Gumshoe:

Judge for a day: If Gumshoe is in charge, then why is he alone? His team is preparing for the trail tomorrow, so he is kicked out again.

Edgeworth: Edgeworth is quite haunted about the SL-9 Incident, and for what happened in court today, Gumshoe is investigating in his locker (he is a detective after all).

Evidence safe: He has a locker that activates with his fingerprints (since he keeps losing his ID cards). If you touch the wrong one, you'll get shocked. The Evidence Locker will be added to the Court Record. Present the Victim's Note to Gumshoe. The SL-9 Incident was pne of Edgeworth's biggest cases. Gumshoe knew that loose ties may be on the incident.

Talk to Gumshoe about the SL-9 Incident. The criminal was a serial killer, and Edgeworth took him down on that case, and for that, he became famous. Gumshoe also tells you that Goodman was the head detective of the SL-9 case. The knife was found in Goodman's locker.

Present the ID Card Records. Gumshoe takes a look at it and becomes shocked. The second number that went with Goodman, was Edgeworth's! The ID Card Record will be updated in the Court Record. Examine a piece of cloth hanging out of the closed upper left locker. There seems to he part of a shirt hanging out. Pan right and Examine the bright locker behind the cross-line. There is a glove in there could it be related to SL-9? Examine an open locker (just above the one you just examined). It's Goodman's locker, but it's empty. Examine the debris just under the police tape. There's big pieces of a jar on the ground. Check it out closer, and you will have put the pieces together.

Putting Together Pieces
When you have to fix stuff like a jar, or a vase, you just have to put it back together. You just have to choose what you think is the right fragment. Rotate it around to find a perfect match, and Combine. If it matches, the object will rotate for you to find the next missing fragment. If you got all fragments put in, you're finished.

Here is a list of pieces to put back together in order:

  • Fragment No. 5 Rotate 180°
  • Fragment No. 4 Rotate left once.
  • Fragment No. 6 Rotate left once.
  • Fragment No. 1 Rotate left once.
  • Fragment No. 8 Rotate right once.
  • Fragment No. 3 Rotate right once.
  • Fragment No. 2 Rotate right once.
  • Fragment No. 7 Rotate right once.

You could continue here, but a couple of more pieces are missing. It looks like an Unstable Jar, which will be added to the Court Record.Pan left and Spray with the Liuminol Testing Fluid on the locker with a piece of cloth sticking out. It's blood! someone wiped part of it off. Examine a spot on the upper right locker on the left of the crime scene. It's more blood! And it looks like someone tried to wipe it off. Spray with the on the spot. Gumshoe is shocked, as it is on his locker. Ema adds that to the floor plans. Spray on what looks like the crime scene. There's LOTS of blood on there. Something really happened here. Ema will mark all spots on the Floor Plans. Gumshoe will then leave, to give Edgeworth a flyer with a "No Problems!" message, as he just got out of the Office Inquiry. Looks like you should talk to Edgeworth. Move to the High Prosecutor's Office.

High Prosecutor's Office

You'll meet the Bellboy (whom you met on Case 2), who'll leave you to Edgeworth, who'll show you the flyer Gumshoe gave him. Talk to Edgeworth:

Inquiry committee: The inquiry gave him a warning, as they thought Edgeworth may be concealing evidence.

Tomorrow's trial: He is still a prosecution, but now the inquiry are leaving the case to the Police Department. Present to Edgeworth the ID Card Report. Edgeworth was indeed in the Evidence Room with Goodman just before the stabbing, but was asked to leave by Chief Gant, who gave Edgeworth evidence, a screwdriver, from a solved case from half a year ago. Edgeworth can't say what the case is. The Screwdriver will be added to the Court Record. Present the Victim's Note to Edgeworth.

Talk to him about the Allegations of forgery. The one who lead the case was Damon Gant. Edgeworth claimed he didn't touch the evidence. Edgeworth hears from Lana that you were scientifically investigating the case, so he gives you some Aluminum powder, for taking fingerprints. The fingerprinting set and fingerprint files will be received. Let's try it out. Move back to the Evidence Room, where you found some hand prints.

Evidence Room (2)

You decide to try out the fingerprint set on Gumshoe's locker.

Fingerprints
Highlight the Fingerprint set and choose Spray. Then choose a print you want to Examine. When a grid like background takes over the Touch Screen, first tap it everywhere to sprinkle the Aluminum powder everywhere. Then, once you think you've spread enough powder, blow on the mic to blow off the contents to reveal the fingerprint. Last, you get to pick whose fingerprints are those in the fingerprint files. If it matches, you'll know that person has been in this room. If not, try another.

In this case, you'll find nothing. Someone must be wearing a glove here. Don't give up yet, as there's a faint print just next to the thumb of the bloody hand print. Examine it. This time you found a clear fingerprint. You then pick it's owner. In this case pick Dick Gumshoe as it's his locker. You then remember finding another print at the other locker. Pan left, and Examine the locker. The bloody part was washed away, so the prints could be washed away as well, so you have to find a print that is not washed away. Examine a spot just to the left of the middle finger. After blowing it off, you pick it's owner. After a few tries, you'll find that Jake Marshall matches. Marshall? What was he doing here? Why was there a print next to a bloody print? Did he have blood on his hand and tried to wash it off? Marshall's Fingerprints will be added to the Court Record.

Phoenix decides to call it a day, as you may have found what you may call decisive evidence.
