Generic templates which are used in many different guides simply need to be placed in [[:Category:Templates]].  Templates specifically designed for one guide should go in [[:Category:Guide-specific templates]]. When categorising a template, add the initial letter of the template's name to the categorisation, so a guide-specific template beginning with "A" would be categorised thus: <nowiki>[[Category:Guide-specific templates|A]]</nowiki>. This is to keep the templates in a sensible order in the category.
