== Hey ==
The achievements and trophies for the game use different images and the Xbox 360 version has more achievements – wouldn't it be easier for a PlayStation 3 user to see his trophies in a separate table instead of mixed in with 360 ones and the wrong images on some of the PS3 ones? Also, the PS3 version images are now orphaned. — [[User:Najzere|<span style="color:#909090">najzere</span>]][[User talk:Najzere|<span style="color:#993300">T</span>]] 23:39, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Hope I can help out here with you guys. [[User:Mason11987|Mason11987]] 17:44, 24 April 2006 (PDT)
I've been including a <tt>nowrap</tt> parameter in the table cell with the platinum trophy to prevent link breaks within the column, but the same issue is present with the gamerscore column as well. I think it would be a good idea to set the width on the gamerscore and trophy columns in the {{t|Achievements Header}} template to accommodate a three digit gamerscore and a platinum trophy, respectively. == Template removal ==
I just saw you modified my Banner for my [[Virtual Villagers 3: The Secret City]] guide. I want to know is this a strategy wiki norm or it's because my banner was too big? The problem is that it's pretty small on my screen resolution. Is there a way to make it bigger but still center ?

Hey there.  I saw you were merging some stuff from Wikibooks for [[Adventures of Lolo 2 (Japanese)]].  You may have noticed I was using a template to try to draw levels with small graphics.  I had thought that the use of a template would have eased things, but instead it's made things extremely nightmarish.  I was wondering if it would be possible to get rid of the material I submitted for the template?  I'm using modified versions of screenshots to get the point across and so far that's working out well.
thank you very much

The template basically consisted of images starting with:  "Lolo_TileLandxxxx.png", where xxxx.png is the name of the tile.  The whole template was a bad idea, and I'm sorry about it.  --[[User:Sivak|Sivak]] 18:25, 13 May 2006 (PDT)

== Can you meet me in IRC? ==
: The problem is that at the banner's original width it caused the page contents to be shunted below the infobox on lower screen resolutions (like this). It is for this reason that we try to keep banner widths on the main page within reasonable limits (which is why {{t|marquee}} was created). Not all images look good at this lower size, but the alternative is even worse. This is less of an issue for subpages because there are no infoboxes there to shove images out of the way. --Garrett (talk) 22:37, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

== Format of Recruitment Pages for Radiata Stories ==
== searchresulttext ==

Garret, I have added a suggested format for the recruitment pages of [[Radiata Stories]].  Since you seem to be the only existing user to have touched it, I thought I would ask you before changing the format.
What was it showing up as before? -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 23:14, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Basically, I am taking my FAQ (which is available on my home page as well as GameFAQs) and putting it into the wiki.  I don't see the recruitment page as being easy to do.  Actually, I don't think it is feasible to create it using the current format.
== DLC question ==

Please look at my suggestion and let me know what you think. [[User:Wrp103|wrp103 (Bill Pringle)]] 10:03, 19 May 2006 (PDT)
I was under the impression DLC just went on the main guide. Is it based on how big they are? For instance, I would have added the DLC achievements and trophies for GTAIV to the GTAIV achievements and trophies page like we've done for other ones. Just wondering if there was a standard or if we take them on a case by case basis. :According to [[WP:Grand_Theft_Auto_IV:_The_Lost_and_Damned|wikipedia]] it appears to be an expansion, not a DLC. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 21:06, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
::The GTAIV episodes are major DLC, comparable to a PC expansion. They are even sold separately from the main game (as [[Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City]]). The Oblivion expansions are listed separately too (they are DLC for the consoles but retail for the PC). --[[User:Garrett|Garrett]] ([[User talk:Garrett|talk]]) 21:10, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
:::What's the differentiation between a ''major'' DLC and a regular one (is there a label as such somewhere)? -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 21:21, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
::::Um, er, not really. "DLC" is a catch-all term for everything from Horse Armor to an entirely new game chapter. Figuring this out is a case-by-case deal for sure. As a general rule, if it's the sort of thing that on the PC would have traditionally been sold in stores it's expansion-level DLC; similarly, if the PC gets it as a retail expansion but the consoles just get it as DLC it counts as an expansion. --[[User:Garrett|Garrett]] ([[User talk:Garrett|talk]]) 22:57, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

I noticed you added in controls for a vehicle on [[Mass Effect 2]].  I'm almost to the end of the game now and I've yet to encounter a pilotable vehicle anywhere (though I know there is the Hammerhead, I don't believe it's out yet). Where do you encounter a controllable vehicle in the game?  If I can find it, I can figure out its controls and add them.  — [[User:TheTwan|TheTwan]][[User talk:TheTwan|talk]] 21:49, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
:There are no usable vehicles in the base game, so these will be for the Hammerhead DLC. They were listed in the PC version's control customisation section. == Upscaling ==
== Achievements Header double image column ==

Hi Garrett. I noticed you upscaled the images on the retro titles I worked on.  That's cool, however I was trying to conform to the changes that DrBob made to my Donkey Kong page. I'm comfortable following whichever formatting is correct, but now there's a discrepancy between DK and the other pages that I started. Just want to know which one I should use from now on (and if DK needs to be fixed.) Thanks!
Hi, I had an idea about games with very different achievement and trophy images (instead of just a couple): [[Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection#Achievements and trophies]]. This could be handled fairly easily in the template by switching out the cell width with an optional parameter. I like this layout a little better than floating the alt. images in the description cell, because they belong in the "picture" column and this way you don't have to decide which system's images get the main placement. I also like it better than a completely separate table as it avoids redundancy and page length. Let me know what you think. :) — [[User:Najzere|<span style="color:#909090">najzere</span>]][[User talk:Najzere|<span style="color:#993300">T</span>]] 16:38, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

== Colons ==
== Rename request ==

Hey Garrett, why do you think the controls are better without colons ([[Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas/Basics/Controls]])? To me, a colon denotes a relationship between the two operands even if one of them is an image (or something else). --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 03:32, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
Could you rename me to simply "James"? That user has not made any edit to this wiki, so it can be usurped (rename that user to something else) '''—[[User:James B. McDonald|<span style="color:black">Sheriff James B. McDonald</span>]][[User talk:James B. McDonald|<span style="vertical-align:super;">bad guys</span>]]''' 01:49, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

: I would say tables are actually worse than lists without colons. It adds a huge amount of wikimarkup with no real benefit, as there're only two variables in the relationship, which can easily (and pleasantly) be expressed using lists (and colons! :-P ). --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 05:03, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
== Fable/Locations ==

:: I say leave it as a list. Don't use breaks. Apart from the accessibility concerns (how are screen readers supposed to know it's a list?), lists have many advantages when it comes to having machines read and "understand" pages. Besides, lists make it easier to read and understand by humans. :-) --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 05:18, 26 July 2006 (CDT)

::: I tried some table stuff on the page (see the [[Talk: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas/Basics/Controls|talk page]]) but came to the conclusion that tables are more trouble than it's worth.  Once the button images got inserted I started taking out the lists because the buttons form their own bullets in a way.  I agree with DrBob that machine-readability is a goal, but it looks funny to have a little sqare next to the button image.  Can we use styles to get a bulletless list?  I also don't like the colons.  How else can we insert some space between the button and the text?
== Uncategorized files ==

::: As for the "On foot" section, the only part with bullets below the button, I think it can be resolved by writing the section like the Xbox section.  Insert more modes (fighting, FPS, etc.) and each button only does one thing per mode. [[User:Sympleko|Sympleko]] 05:23, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
A few of your uploaded images were only in [<nowiki/>[:Category:Items]], and as that category has been deleted, they've now fallen into [[Special:UncategorizedFiles]]. Can you re-cat the Zelda ALttP images? -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 22:17, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
::::Yeah, it would be easy to design a <nowiki><div id="nobullets"></nowiki> sort of thing. I'm not conscious enough to work that out tonight though. ;) [[User:Garrett|Garrett]][[User talk:Garrett|Talk]] 05:25, 26 July 2006 (CDT)

:::: I don't know how feasible that <nowiki><div id="nobullets"></nowiki> idea is, because the CSS propery controlling bullet style might not be inheritable, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I think the bullets should stay anyway, as they provide a standard column in a recogniseable and standard style down the left of the list. The buttons can be quite different, so shouldn't be used as bullet points because they don't form an easily recogniseable column. I'm going into some deep design theory here, and I don't think I've explained it very well, but it's basically all to do with creating a uniform and easily-recogniseable style with (in this case) lists. Just using the buttons as bullet points doesn't do this, imho. (This is probably going to be my last post on the matter, as I'm due to leave on holiday for a week or more, but if you come to a conclusion in my absense, try to think of the issues I've raised, and if it deals with them.) --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 05:30, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
== Box art question ==

::::: I wasn't quite saying that the buttons should be used (subjunctive) as bullets, but that they in effect do call out (indicative) the individual points. Maybe we should just leave it as a list (with no colons) and, if we decide to restyle later we can (using CSS) [[User:Sympleko|Sympleko]] 06:27, 26 July 2006 (CDT)

:Cool thanks :)Only reason I ask is because my "collection" of games is split between 1/2 only.  But I'll leave it to you. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 06:30, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

[[User:Kernigh|Kernigh]] writes: I took a look at the situation with the "unused" [[NetHack]] images. I had originally uploaded more NetHack images then I needed, so in [[NetHack/Beginning]] I only used some of the images. I linked the others with <tt><nowiki>[[:Image:</nowiki></tt> and MediaWiki was not counting those as links. So I [http://strategywiki.org/w/index.php?title=NetHack/Beginning&diff=prev&oldid=53332 removed the links].

''All'' of the NetHack [[Special:Unusedimages]] from Kernigh can be deleted; I will not bother to mark them. If I actually need one later, I will just upload it again. I would also like to see someone delete [[Template:NetHack]] that is already marked. --[[User:Kernigh|Kernigh]] 18:39, 16 September 2006 (CDT)

Hi Garrett.  I noticed all of the hard work you've been doing to the whole LoZ series in general, so I wanted to invite you to peruse the original game and see if there was anything that you thought could use some reorganization or general cleaning up.  I've always been interested in feedback on the guide since I finished contributing to it.  Thanks very much! Hi Garrett. How do you do? I was recently nominated for administrator. Can I ask your feedback? It is [[StrategyWiki:Requests_for_permissions/Abacos|here]]. --[[User:Abacos|Abacos]] ([[User talk:Abacos|talk]]) 10:14, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Why did you upload all those random title images from Wikibooks? We don't use title images, and they're poorly-made anyway. --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 01:13, 19 September 2006 (CDT)

== Inaccurate revisions. ==

Garrett, I'll start out by admitting that I am being extremely sensitive about this subject, but a lot of the revisions that you've been doing appear to me as being a blanket action taken without thought or consideration.  The [[Pinball]] nav thing, I can understand, but the [[Samurai Shodown]]/[[Samurai Shodown!]] redirect is inexcusable.  If you had just taken a few moments to look at the infoboxes or the categories, you would have seen that they are distinct games.  Furthermore, if you had looked at the history, DrBob made the same mistake previously, and I made that very correction once before.  Please do some research before taking a similar course of action next time.  Thank you.  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] 16:04, 10 October 2006 (CDT)

== Street Fighter II Nav ==

Oh and I was meaning to ask you about the Street Fighter versions. I used Street Fighter II as the nav of its variants so that they could share the TOC and walkthrough of whatever info isn't in the move lists. Is this the best way to handle them? [[User:Garrett|Garrett]][[User talk:Garrett|Talk]] 19:40, 10 October 2006 (CDT)
: Oh wow, that's actually an excellent consideration that I hadn't thought of.  Unfortunately though, now that I've switched to using the Fighting Game Nav and the Move List Nav, I would regret losing that functionality that links the two pages together.  Alternatively, though I am loathe to borrow anything from WikiKnowledge, perhaps we could adopt their Street Fighter II navigation system.  Look at the bottom of [http://www.wikiknowledge.net/wiki/Street_Fighter_II this page] to see what I mean.  As another alternative, we are making use of the [[:Category:Street Fighter|Street Fighter category]].  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] 19:44, 10 October 2006 (CDT)
