Actually, Prod brought up a pretty valid point on IRC, in which that we shouldn't welcome people just for creating accounts, only when they actually edit. It would reduce the amount of space needed in the db (because, as you can see, a LOT of accounts are being created), plus the majority of those new users probably won't edit at all anyway.
